Hands down the best fish burger in Auckland! We drive all the way from Takanini to come here and it's worth it every time 🥴🤤.

The kai here is always yum with fresh seafood, thick fish and light crispy batter. The order pictured we added egg and cheese (do 👏🏽 it 👏🏽... Don't be silly) and they are just monsters. Pickled onion gives it such a freshness and the tartare sauce is yum. Spoon next to the burger so you can see how big these things are and pic of the beautifully fried runny egg.

The desserts are yum too. The brownie is rich and fudgy with crunchy edges and has lots of Whittaker's chocolate. That's one thing I love about this place, they don't ever seem to skip on quality of ingredients and load their Kai up.

Aside from the great food, the guy who owns this place is such a down to earth, lovely person. I don't know him personally but my partner and I have both had such cool interactions with us. When I've had my hands full with an upset baby, he's carried food over to my car and helped us with the doors. Love hearing te reo Māori being used proudly in the shop and on the phone to customers too. Feels like walking into a cousins shop.

Last side note is that I love their packaging too, it makes it feel a bit more special and keeps things crispy for a long time (e.g. drive from Titirangi to South Akl). Go get some Kai and take it down to one of the beaches and go for a date 😍.

It's little gems like this that make me a chub because I'm so happy to support small businesses that are so passionate about what they do and just want to provide a great experience for people.

Updating my review from 3 years ago. This place is 🔥. The new owner has been working hard to keep this place firmly at the top of the takeaway tree. Recent cost of living price rises mean even chip shops are no longer the cheap meals they once were …so it’s an absolute credit to the new owner that the fish burgers over deliver on expectations!! Wow! Packed fish burgers with juicy fish, fresh salad - the standard hasn’t slipped!

I tried the new Southern fried fish burger, a stonking piece of perfect chicken.

I will say that as a chip fiend, I’ve struggled with the price increase in chips these recent years, and the almost defacto standard of pre cut bagged chips. I understand the need, I just know hand cut potatoes are out there! Still, a generous portion, if I had to criticise, I prefer my chips with a few extra seconds in the fryer.

Excellent work, so glad to have this place serving up such delicious food out west!

A massive appreciation for the team taking on the feedback we placed and executing it like stars. We came and got both a fish burger and soul burger, fries, fried chicken, mussels and both a cheesecake and brownie.

The burgers were massive, made with fresh ingredients and pulled together with really quality ingredients and protein. The fish was golden, crunchy and fresh. The beef and bacon were smoky and flavoursome. Chips were golden, fluffy and salty. Fried chicken doesn’t even need a breakdown as it’s out the gate and you are a fool not to try! It’s in the name but all of the batter has ‘soul’.

Our advice would be to order in advance to save you a wait but perhaps that only goes to show people are continuing to come back. Check in on their socials as well for specials as they have some epic deals.
