Celebrating both our birthday's today by having lunch at Deco Eatery. I rang ahead of time and booked the best table for two Queens 👸 who needed to be treated like royalty (and we were). Thank you Nick, the table selection was brilliant 👊 and the service from Nicole was excellent, she was friendly, polite, attentive, had great communication skills and the healthy Fattoush lamb salad she highly recommend was delicious (there was even leftovers, I'll take back home to my partner to convince him to come and try).
I loved the family friendly atmosphere and the decor. What made it even more memorable, was the random act of kindness from the young couple sitting next-door to our table, they paid for our lunch and we felt truly blessed and speechless. My sister and I have spent the morning in fellowship and just talked about how faithful our God is and He always provides for us.
Sending a message to the beautiful couple who were God's answer to our prayers 🙏♥️ Thank You for your act of kindness, care, love and obedience. You don't know how appreciative we both are and how we marveled at the miracle that just took place. An angel blessed us today with our meal. Please know that we will pay it forward and continue to share God's unconditional love, goodness, grace and faithfulness to the whosoever 🌎 God bless you...
Read moreSince opening, Deco's service has been patchy and has struggled to be consistent. You may be one of the luckier ones, but if you look at other reviews you will see there are often problems. I notice the owner likes good reviews but doesn't seem to take any notice of the disappointment many customers have genuinely had. We fall into this latter category and in fact will never return as we're tired of being disappointed. Last week on a not very busy evening two out of our party of three ordered the salmon. We waited about 45 mins and when it eventually arrived it was luke warm and undercooked. We sent it back very politely and then waited a good further 15 mins to be presented with obviously smaller portions which were now overdone! We said nothing, but when asked by the waiter we expressed the opinion that if a meal is sent back, the kitchen should try to surpass expectations the second time around which was clearly not the case. Later, a waitress even said that salmon shrinks on cooking, to try to defend the portion size!, rather than listen properly to the customer. We were given 25% off the meals but we should have been given one free, under these circumstances. Altogether a very disappointing meal out...

Finishing up our first three week stay in New Zealand and I was still on a lamb jag and they were perfect. Sue let me have some of her beef, wow, she only let me have a little. Whole meal was excellent with several entrees (these would be called appetizers in USA) two main dishes (these would be called entrees in USA) and a couple carafes of the local wine.
Just a word about New Zealand wine. We had a very nice Pinot Noir there. I don't go crazy about Pinot Noir or Sauvignon Blancs but those two are so tasty in New Zealand. If you are new to the area hit a few wineries and get a taste of the local stuff.
Back to Deco, the turkish coffee and the dessert were great. This is where they showed they were doing new fusion or whatever using liquid nitrogen or something to make the ice cream. Whatever they did it was worth it.
All that and my credit card said I barely broke a hundred bucks. That type of food and service would normally be double in Boston.
Drive down to Piha, hit the beach, then hit this place after you have made it back up the...
