Ruby's Cafe — Restaurant in Wellington

I had the pleasure of visiting Ruby's Café this morning for brunch, and it was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I walked in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which set the tone for a wonderful experience.

I decided to try the Big Breakfast, and I have to say, it was hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The portion was generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. The eggs were delicious, the bacon crispy, and the sautéed mushrooms were full of flavor. The addition of freshly baked toast and perfectly fried hashcakes really rounded out the dish.

As for the coffee, it was just as impressive. Rich, smooth, and served at the perfect temperature, it complemented the meal beautifully. It’s clear that Ruby's Café takes pride in sourcing quality ingredients and making every dish with care.

Really wish I could send feedback privately, but there isn’t an option. The service has gone downhill DRASTICALLY in the recent year. We were never greeted, never got the menu, never got water. We had to grab the menus and water ourselves and then order at the counter after waiting quite a while. For a table of 5, we were given 3 forks and 2 napkins. We asked for more but only received one more fork and one more napkin and had to go back AGAIN to ask for more. 2 of our meals came out on the same plate. I’m pregnant and asked for my bacon to please be overly cooked and almost burnt, it came out near raw. Our poached eggs on another meal were cooked the whole way through. Our servers hardly acknowledged us and weren’t polite. I REALLY miss the way...

Updating my previous reviews. NEW, NEW, NEW...new owners, new furniture and new menu. We had frequented Ruby's less and less due to the general atmosphere, drop in service, and unclean tables and chairs etc. The new owner's have really revamped the Cafe and it is sparkling. All the surfaces were clean, new furniture including the courtyard. The new menu is great and has some fabulous new additions, plus some of Ruby's old classics. Staff were efficient and food presentation was great. Portion sizes on the Vegetarian and Big Brekkie were very generous and filling! All four of us that dined there were happy with our meals.
