Primitivo Experience Steakhouse — Restaurant in Managua

For a place focused on experience, it fell far short on that side. A lot of great things going for this place. But treated horribly when arriving and not honoring our reservation while lying to us was not the experience I'd expect from a place like this.

We made a reservation for a specific table in advance. When we arrived, the place was empty. Only 1 other couple eating. We checked in and they sat us in a corner that was super tight and could barely get in the chair. We booked a private table.

I asked why we were being seated there and she said "you need to reserve a specific table if you want it" and I showed her the reservation that we did. And then she said "sorry we can't honor it we are full" and I asked how are you full if the place is completely empty. 95% of the tables are empty and she said "they are reserved" and to which I said "I know we are one who reserved one" and she just walked away.

We ate dinner and the entire time we were there. The place remained nearly empty until we left. Nobody was there. No one showed up.

So she did not honor our reservation, for no reason, just to make us uncomfortable and keep the tables empty.

Discrimination is my only idea. Because I'm a tourist? Didn't think we were dressed well enough? I don't know.

Five stars isn’t enough for Primitivo! This place is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by the atmosphere—elegant jungle vibes everywhere, and we were lucky enough to be seated in La Jaula (The Cage), which was such a unique and stunning spot. Honestly, even if the food had been mediocre, the decor alone would’ve made it worth it—but the food was incredible.

I ordered the surf and turf: 8oz medallones de res with a creamy mushroom sauce, paired with 4oz of jumbo shrimp in a rich, flavorful sauce. Every bite was perfection. Even the side salad was divine—fresh, crisp, and well balanced.

Service was top tier. Our waitress, Linda, was a dream—super kind, very attentive, and had our food and drinks out lightning fast. It made the experience feel seamless and special.

Music was on point too—not too loud to interrupt conversation, but still gave the place a great ambiance.

An experience! Five star customer service! Great 5-star modern ambience, amazing food, great place for a date!! The tomahawk was amazing! They do side table service and cut the steak and serve you at the table, which is a nice five star touch. I didn’t like it came with french fries that look like they are from pricesmart, frozen and ketchup. Maybe they should serve it with a mashed potato.. Asian chicken wings were some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever had, and it comes with a many of them, maybe three too many chicken wings. But I’m not complaining. The Primitivo salad was OK. I felt it lacked some dressing and was a bit bland. Empanadas tasted amazing, but they were cold in the middle. Only 3 pieces and expensive. 3-milk coconut cake was tasty! Overall, the food was great and worth the price. I recommend they should have hot bread and butter while people are waiting for their meal as the wait time is a bit long.
