Chai Tang Restaurant — Restaurant in Lagos State

Okay I went here based on recommendation and personally I have once been here during a wedding ceremony.

I had high expectations on this particular visit with my family , but was disappointed big time !

Got there and the first thing they stopped my dad at the entrance of the building and told him that he could not carry his personal camera upstairs to the restaurant!

Mind you we were not there for no photo shoot , my dad is an avid photography lover . They kept us waiting there for 10 minutes after which I gave up and kept the camera in the car and we moved on . ( Quick thought here , don’t our phones have cameras ? ) .

Anyways reaching upstairs, I’m greeted by one of the waiters , who of-course did not have a clue about my reservation.

Well finally got a seat , first thing the place was lukewarm . Like why is a fine dining restaurant warm on a sunny afternoon ?

Mind you this place is by no means reasonably priced . It’s right up there with the menu prices .

I complain about the heat but no changes !

we start sweating , they change our seats.

Now away from windows , they seat us inside , but it’s still the same and to make matters worse , the AC right above where we were seated started leaking water !

I had given up already , a Sunday that I expected to be a beautiful outing with my family was half ruined I prayed that the food would make up for all this mess !

We ordered,

Starters

Shrimp & Mayo rolls. ( 6out of 10) Chicken rolls. ( 5 out of 10)

Chicken dry with chili and peanuts ( 4 out of 10) All chicken with skinny bone and no meat !

Soup Chicken sweet corn (9 out of 10)

Main

Chicken Fried rice ( 9 out of 10) Chicken Singapore noodles ( 7 out of 10)

Prawns in white sauce sizzler. ( 3 out of 10) Tasted rubbery and not fresh !

Beef in black pepper sauce sizzler ( 7 out of 10)

Dessert

Sticky toffee pudding (7 out of 10)

Food was mediocre, I could get better tasting food at many other places that is not priced at half of the menu rate !

The Experience in whole was just not good !

The Manager came towards the end of our visit and apologized saying their air conditioners ar e not working ! That the maintenance teams are working on it ! I mean if you know you have a technical issue why do it when customers are paying in full for a service and they are suffering !

Disappointed and...

I live in admiralty about a year in lagos, not far from Chai Tang Chinese. ...I have been eating here about 3months ago., maybe once or twice a week and every time, never a problem...NEVER. . The food is great, if anything to complain about, it`s that they give you too much.food...I have been to other Chinese establishments, who charge twice as much, and the food is not worth the extra expense.. I don't get some of the bad reviews on here...Are these people talking about the same restaurant?.. I don't know about the delivery problems, cause I never had delivery, but some of these bad reviews are crazy.. Bad tasting food?, dirty place?, poor management staffs?, Ha,, Not even close to the truth...bad service?..Sorry, never saw any of that... but I do believe that reviews should not be still on here, if they are over 3Months old.. I have seen reviews on here, good & bad from over 5 months.... Places change, so if someone is reading a review, from many months ago, they are not getting the true picture of this great ambiance restaurant. My review is from TODAY...(13/8/18) . I had the General FANTAL PRAWNS (BUTTERFLY) ....great, House special fried rice,,great chilli,honey and lemon chicken sauce .. my freind had the crispy aromatic duck, ,great again... and he simply loves the sauce soup although took a little while . I walk in 20 min after close not knowing they had just shut down and these guy on suit insist on making anything I want. Awesome service...

ChaiTang is really beautiful and the food was good too! Went in the company of 3 of my favorite people..lol … It’s best to make a reservation cos they don’t like it when the place is overwhelmed (so you can get value for your money I guess) which is very nice…

The waitress was very nice and helpful..helped us settle in quickly when we weren’t sure of where to sit also helped with picking what to order.

We had Long Island,martini,mango daiquiri,Mojito and Chapman (Drinks) AND prawns in schezuan chili sauce,Chicken in schezuan chili sauce,Vermicelli / Singapore noodles ,Pineapple friedrice and deep fried chicken wings. They all tasted so goood. The drinks took a little longer than the average time cocktails should take .. The food too but everything came at the same time…

Also, a bowl of everything we ordered was enough to feeed all of us and we didn’t couldn’t even finish them. I’ll post pictures so you can see… Thank God the waitress filled us in on that(we were going to buy separate meals..lol)

Overall ,dining experience was good . I’ll recommend. I added the bill so you can have an idea of the prices and names of...
