I visited Miso to try out their Shabu Shabu. Miso is an upscale Japanese and Thai restaurant which offers one of the finest scenic rooftop views in Abuja. So what do we think: THE EXPERIENCE Shabu Shabu is a Japanese hot pot dish that features sliced meat and veggies. The marinated meat is served raw and is cooked at the table in a hot pot or skillet. This gives you the option to have your preferred doneness. The Chef spoke about the different meat and how it was seasoned and infused with spices, garlic, chilli, mustard and soya. He also explained that shabu shabu is a food experience that's great for bonding and sharing. Typically, phones and gadgets should be abandoned when it's time for eating it. Our host was very accommodating and put us through the cooking process. THE FOOD For starters, I had a sweet corn soup with homemade chicken meat balls. The soup was rich, tasty and had a subtle kick of heat. We also had goat meat, chicken, beef, prawn and orange skewers, sausage and pineapple skewers, fish, garlic fried rice and an array of sauces like bbq, pepper, chilli and garlic. All the meat was nicely seasoned except the beef which was a bit overpowering and salty. We particularly liked the chicken and how well the rice paired with the Nigerian pepper sauce. Finally for drinks, we enjoyed some pints of ice cold Heineken. The experience was lovely and a unique way of having a meal. Shabu Shabu at Miso cost about 15,000 naira per head. Shabu Shabu is best shared with friends or family and in my own case, I got to share it with some food bloggers in Abuja.

📍: MISO JAPANESE & THAI RESTAURANT • LOCATION Summerset Continental Hotel, Rooftop, No 34 Usuma St, Maitama 900001, Abuja • AMBIENCE Stopped over for a quick meet and WOW 🤩 that’s all I have to say. Jk jk 😂😂 you know I have to give you details. The rooftop view is so beautiful, I’m a lover of nature so the view of Zuma rock and the greenery is so amazing. Love, love, love it😍 They have a restaurant area which you have to walk through to get to the double rooftop lounge area which is my fave. • REVIEW It’s a 9/10 for me, I’d have loved if my Daiquiri came in a bigger or wider glass but overall their service was great and paired with that view, GOJOS!! 😍 • Their prices range from 3000 above, quite affordable if you ask me. • Follow on IG @ the_dulcylifestyle

Miso is a gem with so much potential. The ambience is great. Has a Godfather-ish vibe to it. Perfectly dimly lit and aesthetically pleasing, albeit warm. But, the food and cocktails can be a whoooollleeee lot better. I had fish fingers for starters, they were superb. The teriyaki chicken, not so much. The cocktail (quite cheap) was unpleasant, to say the least. Had a Long Island that felt like plain old whiskey and coke. Miso can be a whole lot better and I hope the mgt looks into working on improving customer experience. The only thing I enjoyed there were the fish fingers and the ambience.

This restaurant rests at the top of the Summerset Continental Hotel. As with the hotel, the restaurant aesthetic is exceptional. In keeping with Japanese tradition, artwork, furniture and monuments are tastefully position and meticulously clean.

The restaurant provided a sweeping view of the most beautiful parts of Abuja. Simply sitting here is a treat for the eyes and soul.

There are Japanese and thai dishes on the menu, including sushi. Prices are quite high and quantities rather small. In keeping with Japanese palate, the salmon sushi I had was rich but not particularly flavourful which is the only reason the restaurant doesn't get 5 stars.

There was beautiful, subdued music playing and a football match projected on the wall with the volume turned low. I was very impressed with how much attention was given to the...
