Restaurant Ambience

The restaurant interior was absolutely lovely! It had calm and very classy vibe. The restaurant was beautifully fitted with orange toned lights that really pop out the subtle, earth toned furnitures. The restaurant features an indoor and outdoor sitting area. I didn’t check out much of the bar and outdoor area because we were neither drinking nor smoking. The restaurant had a few private corners that you can have private conversations which I found very thoughtful because it was all in an open space but you can have your secluded time as well. I didn’t take too many pictures of the indoor space because it was in the evening and the restaurant was a bit busy so I didn’t want to be all up in peoples faces taking pictures. I really loved the earth toned colours and beautiful lights (I am a sucker for good lighting).

The food

The restaurant serves a unique variety of dishes ranging from rice, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, salads and so much more. We ordered the following ;

Chicken strips – NGN2,000

AMAZING!!! That’s the only word for these chicken strips. I would totally have it over and over again. Just as it looks, it had a crunchy crust but was soft and tender on the inside. It was served quite hot so when you take a bite it unveils a steamy hot, juicy chicken on the inside. It came along with a mayo dipping, which wasn’t really spectacular but it was nice and made a lovely pairing with the chicken strips.

Signature Rice (2 portions) – NGN6,000

The Ann’s signature rice was so delicious we had to order an extra plate. A portion costs N3,000 which I found quite affordable because it was packed with many rich ingredients. It had, shrimps, beef, egg and a mix of different vegetables. The rice and vegetables weren’t overcooked which I absolutely loved because I really hate overcooked rice/vegetables.

Teriyaki chicken – NGN2,000

When the teriyaki chicken was served I honestly thought it was burnt and it wouldn’t taste nice but to my surprise it was actually nice. It didn’t beat the chicken strips for me but I still liked it regardless. The portion of the chicken is actually quite much and can serve two people. The chicken was so tender I was starting to think was lamb meat. It wasn’t really spicy or overly seasoned it was just nice.

Prawn fried rice – NGN3,400

Just like the signature rice, the prawn rice wasn’t overcooked and so were the vegetables. They honestly weren’t selfish with the amount of prawns in the rice. It was quite packed with enough ingredients as well.

Ann’s special chicken (with fried rice) – NGN3,500

This meal was quite satisfactory but I personally feel like there’s nothing really special about it. The chicken was adequately spiced and tender. The fried rice tasted just like it’s other rice counterparts, but without any seafood or beef. The sauce on the side was just ok.

The drinks

Ann’s restaurant hands down has the most affordable and tasty non-alcoholic drinks I’ve seen in an Abuja restaurant. The Oreo milkshake was delicious, creamy and thick + it had ACTUAL OREOS in it. I have been to couple of places in Abuja where they serve Oreo milkshakes without any Oreos TRAGIC! The fruit punch was a combination of pineapple, watermelon, apple, banana and orange juice. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it. The strawberry extreme was a combination of strawberry, milk, orange juice and lime. I tried all the drinks and I totally...

Ann's is a restaurant and bar that recently opened on the popular Gana Street in Maitama.

ENVIRONMENT This place is a beautiful space with intimate lighting, cool grey tones and wooden accents. The lighting here is quite unique and features suspended wine glasses. There are two seating options either inside or outside. The outdoor space is dim lit with faux greener and has a chill vibe. Ann's is great for dates, groups, semi formal meetings and private events.

SERVICE Service was decent considering the fact that we were a group of ten, they handled our orders quite well. The drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive while the food took about 20 - 30 minutes to arrive. Another thing we like is their Menu which features pictures of almost ever single item in it. What you see is exactly what you get.

FOOD I opted for the Buffalo wings, Chicken Milanesa and Mint Lemonade. I also got to try the Lamb burger, Onion rings, Beef Milanesa, Chicken strips and Teriyaki chicken. The buffalo wings were spicy, tasty and tangy which we loved. The chicken milanesa was crispy and also dry but when paired their special sauce it was delicious. The sauce itself is an absolute delight and should be bottled and sold. It is mayo based sauce most likely chipotle mayo. The mint lemonade was refreshing but had a thick mint aftertaste. The onion rings were quite interesting and were stuffed with guacamole. Beef Milanesa reminded us of meat loaf and went well with the chilli sauce it was served with. The lamb in the burger was tasty and nicely seasoned however the burger bun was tough. We would've preferred if the burger was a bit more juicy. The Teriyaki chicken was really sweet and needed some spice and\or heat. After dinner, I had a chat with the owner who took note of our recommendations and suggestions. I also got to fill in feedback forms which shows this place is really interested in serving you well.

PRICING The pricing is quite fair. A starter, main and cocktail cost about 6800 naira.

FUN FACT This place stays true to its mantra "Good...

Visited Ann’s restaurant yesterday & I was pretty much excited to share with y’all my experience 😌

SOCIAL DISTANCING :Called the number on their profile & asked if I could come in to eat, the person on the receiving end asked me how many people, just 2 of us I replied . And then he confirmed we could come in . SERVICE: once we arrived the waiter showed us a seat , brought the menu & have us some time to decide what we were having. I must commend how professional they were & because of that I’ll be coming back again 🎉

FOOD: I ordered for the Singapore fried rice ( which had beef , chicken & prawns ) in them so yummy!!!!!! My friend ordered a sandwich with some side fries & coleslaw. & oh the mint mojito was perfect & the skull cup it was served in like how did they know I’m a fan of aesthetics ✅ Everything we had , drinks inclusive wasn’t up to N10,000 for two people and I still had my left over packed for takeout 🥺CHECK OUT NEXT POSTS FOR FOOD . AMBIENCE : asides the service you get in a place, the environment also adds to your experience & I observed that their sitting arrangements were in line with social distancing but most importantly, I felt at home 🤗considering that was my first time ever visiting, I must say they did great. My experience @ Ann’s Restaurant was delightful. My host had reserved a table and paid a certain fee that would be deducted after meal. We got in and a waitress was assigned to us swiftly. Very nice and cheerful lady with vast knowledge of the menu. She took our order and we waited (becoming a norm in Abuja restaurants). The starter: Buffalo Wings and Spring Rolls came quite late with our drinks already going low (new normal). The wings and sauce was delicious but I think more flesh on the wings would do. Lol. Despite the delay, the main course came in, Pesto Delight and Bon Appetite. I must say, they were very delicious and filling. I never expected to be that full. I enjoyed every bite and I cleared my plate. My reservations: 1. The parking lot is decent but it’s kinda painful to leave your meal to go re-park for a guest to drive off. 2. The route to the toilet is very beautiful. Love the mirror and lights but the toilet itself needs to remain very neat and clean with better access for disabled persons. 3. The waiters & waitresses standing around seems like a good idea as they helped us out a couple of times but I kinda feel there staring was making us uncomfortable. 4. Waiting time Plus: 1. Graphic menu. This would help you have an idea of what you’re ordering to avoid shock. Lol 2. Aesthetics. Very beautiful for pictures though some lights stayed off dunno why. 3. Good meal. Decent bill. Thus the 4 star 😉 The bill was quite decent for such a lovely meal. I believe I’d be visiting again to try something new on the menu.
