Tehrogo — Restaurant in Maitama

The tea was incredible. Probably the best I've had in Abuja. The presentation was pretty solid too. The restaurant is in a weird place. A converted house which kind of confuses at first. My friend had a steak and mashed potatoes which he wasn't raving about. Service was warm and going great until they decided to start arranging chairs in their outdoor space in a way that was clearly not indicative of any social distancing protocols given COVID and just uncomfortable. They'd moved two different tables so close together, that unless you came in a large group and you occupied both tables, it'd be weird cos you could listen in to each others conversation, literally breathe into each others faces. Way too close to comfort. And when I asked why, the person who appeared to be the manager shrugged and said, "that's the arrangement" which to me is same as: Well I don't really care about this customers complaint, I'll do what I want to do anyway. And that is really really disappointing. That position is very telling of how they'd treat any customer on any issue so for me it was a one time and probably never...

It's a Persian resturant located in the least place you will expect a restaurant to be in Maitama. It's a quiet neighbourhood, so most of the customers are not just random people that stumble across the resturant but actually know/heard about it. I want their about 10:30pm so I choose a light meal (Salad Olivie) and Persian Tea (a tea that is purely organic on Nature with so many health benefits). I did not regret my choices. The prices are very fair in my opinion. The customer service is great. They have an outdoor sitting area where shisha can be served. They have a bar. The indoor resturant area is sizeable enough but I was not impressed with the decorations...

Tehrogo feels like home. Have you heard the story behind the name of this restaurant and bar? “Tehr” means Tehran and “Ogo” is for Ogoja. The co-owners are from both Cities.

The concept of the food is Persian (Iranian) and the menu is quite affordable.

The environment is cozy and serene. The decor is so natural and effortless. I totally love it.
