Sarius Palmetum Botanical Gardens — Attraction in Maitama

My kids and I had visited a couple of times before but life got in the way so, we decided to visit again.

There have been a number of improvements I must say but still glaringly, a lack of notices or signboards which resulted in us returning to the car park then trudging down to the garden gate where we were told that we should have purchased entry tickets at the admin office. A call was placed to the admin office to bring the tickets and I observed that the entry prices have again increased: N4000 for adults, N2000 per child under 15.

The blossoms were amazing! Plumbagos, euphorbias, periwinkles; pretty petals on the caladiums, begonias, fittonias, monsteras, syngoniums, aglaonemas, anthuriums and philodendrons!

A vervet monkey came to welcome us and we took lovely pictures. There were now wooden benches thoughtfully scattered throughout the botanical garden. Now, these benches, after our excursions, we were seated on the benches when we were promptly informed that we were not allowed to sit on them.

To the management, make it make sense! I was so disappointed at such a nonsensical rule. The security guards continued tailing us to ensure we didn’t break their rules by sitting on any of the benches. Such...

A beautiful and well maintained garden. Perfect for beautiful shots and picnics. Entrance is 400 per person. You're allowed to bring in what to eat and drink. Small speakers are free but larger speakers attract a fee. You can use your phone camera to take pictures but using digital cameras attract a fee.

Unfortunately, compared to the last time I visited, the garden now closes by 6pm. Used to be a choice location for picnics that extend into the night. Also, we suffered so much mosquito bites, typical of a green area but hopefully it can be controlled.
