Amazonia is a brand new rainforest themed restaurant situated at No. 7 Hombori street, Wuse 2, Abuja. (same location with Discovery museum,Escape room and Lagos Bistro). It’s a pretty splendid environment with fairly adequate parking spaces. They do offer a Valet service which is quite nice and uncommon in most restaurants here in Abuja. The restaurant accepts Walk in’s and reservations, but they prefer reservation though. So before you visit, make a reservation.
The Ambience “MY OH MY” that’s the phrase! The res ambience is amazing. Nothing like you’ve ever seen before. it features different shades of vibrant colors, wall murals, bamboo sticks and lots and lots of flowers, plants .etc. The walls were designed to look like a real rainforest with water flowing through the leaves. It is really cool! The tables had digital screens which display different nature images which gives you an actual feeling of the rainforest. The atmosphere is kinda cool, relaxing and had a very very natural feeling for an indoor space. It has a dim and warm kind of lighting which adds to the whole rainforest vibe. They also have a mini outdoor space which is actually enclosed but definitely looks like an open out door space. It had a few tables and bar like stools, it also had a lot of plants which gave it a little forest vibe. The restaurant also has a new space which was currently been set up when i visited. It is a private dining space for small events which also embodies the theme of the main restaurant.
The Menu The restaurant menu is not your typical conventional Nigerian menu. It features a lot of mouth watering dishes which are mostly seafood based and some of which i’m not sure i pronounced right. The meals are quite expensive to be very honest. The cheapest items on the food menu are the sides, which cost NGN3,500. I totally forgot to get a picture of the drinks menu but the drinks were pricey as well.
The food & Drinks
For the food, My sister and i had the Napolitana pasta and tacos.
NAPOLITANA PASTA – NGN7,500 The Napolitana pasta was a mix of spicy Neapolitan sauce and shrimp. I specifically asked them to make my pasta a little less spicy because i didn’t want anything really spicy. The pasta plating was a 10 i must say and the taste was equally great. The pasta was not to spicy, it was just right like i requested. It wasn’t dry which i really loved, it had the neapolitan sauce still dripping off it. The shrimps were quite big and they weren’t stingy at all. It was definitely worth it’s price.
TACO- NGN7,500 It was delicious! Unfortunately it was quite small for N7,500. I mean, i was expecting more that i was served but i just got two. The taco was described on the Menu as a Crispy squid and shrimp combo in a crispy taco sheet with gochujang and miso mayo but neither the squid nor taco sheet were crispy. However, they nailed the miso mayo and that’s what made it delicious.
Drinks FLAMINGO – NGN3,200 The flamingo drink was a pineapple juice, cranberry juice, lemon juice and simple syrup combo. It was beautifully served and tasted nice. It was too sweet and it had a sour-ish lemony taste which i enjoyed. I didn’t at any point of sipping taste any cranberry juice though. It tasted more like lemon and pineapple juice.
PASSION FRUIT MARTINI – NGN3,500 The passion fruit Martini was a passion fruit syrup, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, egg white and sprite combo. I honestly did not enjoy it. It didn’t taste as good as the...
Read moreAmazonia is easily one of the most unique places to dine in Abuja and gives you a feeling of dining in the middle of a rainforest from its ceiling covered in greenery to the moss details in the tables to the satisfying patter reminiscent of rain drops from its water walls. You can also hear the sounds of birds and gorillas while you dine. The restaurant is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
The food here is inspired by South American and Asian flavours. I got to try a range of soups, starters, mains and a dessert. I had a delicious chicken wonton soup which I enjoyed. The wontons had a rich garlic and ginger flavour which went with light creamy coconut soup. The Ham & Peas soup was spicy and infused with chilli oil which gave it a nice kick. We particularly liked the crispness of the bread and mild turkey ham.
I also tried two open faced sandwiches: the Chorizo and the Bone Marrow. The spicy flavour of the chorizo paired nicely with the ricotta spread and nicely warm runny egg. It was drizzled with mustard tabbleside for some tang. The bone marrow was quite the surprise and actually melted in our mouths. It had the softest bread, tasty bone marrow and was topped with sweet carmelised onions and a tasty salsa.
The delicious empanadas were nicely crisp Chicken and Beef Pies served on creamy guacamole and that rich tomato salsa.
For mains, I had Paella, Lamb Leg Roast and Short Ribs. The lamb roast was lovely and extremely tender but the Short Ribs was the star dish. It was infused with the rich flavours of coffee and was delightfully juicy. We paired our mains with mash, sesame fried rice and Thai Dragon fried rice. The Dragon rice is not for the faint hearted and there's a range of spice levels to opt for in this dish.
I really loved my first ever rainforest dining experience at Amazonia. The food was great and the drinks were delicious. The star drink was the Snappy Red which is a zobo cocktail infused with vodka and rum. It was presented quite beautifully. This spot offers complimentary fruits from their open fruit station served as a salad...

Visiting a rainforest restaurant was an experience for me! Firstly I had high hopes……very very high hopes and I wasn’t let down 💃💃
Here’s why I think you need to make a stop here:
Their service is exceptional! Yes I said that, I’ll give them a 10/10 on this. From the first person you see once you walk in, to climbing the stairs and meeting the wait-staff. Everyone I met that day was so courteous and on point. It felt like they genuinely cared about your experience.
You need to meet their gorilla! Okay call me biased but I love this concept….. Lemme quickly tell y’all a story 😂. I visited Amazonia twice cause I had to meet the gorilla, first time I dined in and the second time I didn’t. I was just talking to someone about my experience there and how sad I was that I didn’t meet the famous gorilla and well he called their Google contact and passed the phone to me 😂😂🙆🏾♀️ I then asked why our dearest gorilla wasn’t available when I visited and well the most polite lady explained that he was off that day but was available now. Well the content creator in me headed there and I met him 💃, he doesn’t talk but sure is friendly. Another day I’ll gist you all about my date assuming the gorilla was a regular zoo gorilla 😂
Signature Cocktails! Again I’m glad to say I enjoyed my drinks. Due to their rainforest theme - their drinks are quite tropical and it was good. My highlight was the Strawberry Banana Margarita.
Beautiful Space: All I’ll say is “Swipe and see for yourself”
Good food-We had Paella and Rainforest Jambolaya; The paella had all the seafood in the Atlantic Ocean (clears throat 😅) but on a serious note they were generous with it. The taste was also good, first paella I actually enjoyed however I would have liked it more if it was a tad more spicy 🙈. The Rainforest Jambolaya was okay but not too exciting for me, didn’t burst my head.
