I was looking for a breakfast place today and chose this based on easy Nigerian name. Google maps took me there correctly. Unfortunately, I was grossly disappointed by the quality of service and food. The Environment is good even if smaller benches for more private sitting should’ve been provided instead of the Longer Benches. I ordered Yam Chips and scrambled Eggs with Tea while my friend ordered Pancake, Scrambled Egg, Sausages and Hot Chocolate. This Basic food took about an hour to come out. My Yam Came Cold along with the Egg. It was served in Prisoners’ Aluminum plate!! My friend’s pancake had more flour, dry and on request for honey we were told it’s N150 (as if that mattered more than one enjoying their meal). The Dry Pancake was served with out a Table knife. Reminder took another 15mins b4 the knife came!! I had to raise my voice to call for my drink after I was halfway through my little yam. Even after reminder for our drinks, it took another 20-30mins b4 drinks came. I was given TeAroma without Honey or Sugar; was later asked and I requested for Honey which never came till I finished the drink.

One of the attendants confessed that she was new and didn’t know that Honey is served with Pancake.

On a Positive, the TeAroma Pot served enough cups to fill one. Akara Cafe also practices RECYCLING so customers are encouraged RECYCLEReUseandReDuce plastic usage. This should continue. Overall, a...

Whenever I'm in Abuja, a visit to Akara Cafe for breakfast is a must. After almost two years, I returned today and was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. The cafe now boasts more chairs and tables, a charming swing, and convenient parking. The food was as delicious as ever; I enjoyed two portions of akara and millet pap, complemented by a refreshing chilled zobo drink.

The staff were very friendly, and my order was ready within 20 minutes, which was impressive. The ambiance was inviting, making it a perfect spot to work from. I regretted not bringing my laptop.

I also learned about their upcoming Akara Express service, where customers can quickly pick up their ordersβ€”such a fantastic addition! Overall, Akara Cafe continues to impress and remains a favorite spot whenever I'm in town.

They also have another branch in Gwarimpa, which I haven't visited yet, but I will make sure to check it out before leaving.

One quirky and charming aspect is that you might come across a chicken wandering about, adding a touch of rustic charm to the experience.

It is a delightful spot, not just for food but for the overall vibe and...

Had brunch here on a Saturday and it was a nice experience. The food took some time to come out which was expected given the volume of orders. It was great that we could play board games while we waited. They have a good collection of games and books to keep you busy while you wait. I found the food to be fresh and the portions generous. We ordered french toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages coffee and hisbiscus/lemon grass tea and Zobo to go. The zobo had a lot of spice. I could taste cloves and ginger. I was pleasantly delighted that the eggs were properly spiced. I would have liked more sugarcane syrup for my pancakes and toast though. The hibiscus/lemon grass tea was fragrant and the portion was generous. Poured more than 5 cups. All of these cost less than N10k which was very high value for money in my opinion. Only downside was some disturbance by flies when the power went out and the fans stopped spinning. There was also no swatter that was charged when I requested one. Would I have breakfast here again? Definitely!
