This was unfortunately not a very enjoyable meal. TLDR: The food was lacking in taste, poor combination of flavors and the protein was not prepared well. For this cost I expect a lot more.
The restaurant was open for the holiday and we were happy to get a table. The atmosphere was decent and the menu looked promising. Unfortunately the positives ended there. The service was lacking, not all of us where able to order drinks before the waitress left the table. She gave us two starters even though we only ordered one. This would've been ok if the food was nice.
Starters: We ordered the mixed seafood starter with two small pieces of octopus , one fried scollop and one green clam. This was under seasoned and the octopus was rubbery and tasteless. The clam was over cooked and tasteless. All was served on a pink cauliflower purée which would benefit from more salt and acid. The acidity came from pickled ginger bought from a general store. Over all not a pleasant experience for 200 NOK a plate.
The main course: We ordered halibut and the char. The halibut was a bit over cooked, but ok. Unfortunately it laid on top of a green purée of unknown source (not specified in the menu). This purée was horrible and had a corse mouth feel. The sauce was also green (based on parsley) and gave no impression due to this horrible green slush of a purée. The pickled fennel was ok. It tasted mostly of white vinegar but was a welcome addition to break through the rest of the flavors. The char was under-seasoned and had a weird texture. The fried potatoes and carrot purée was ok but needed some salt and acid. The broccoli was burnt.
In total this was an expensive but disappointing meal. Either change the ambition/pricing to a less "complex" and expensive level or this restaurant need to increase their over all quality.
Hope you...
Read moreVery amazed by the creativity of the starter and main course. The flavors are unique with hints of fusion (wakame seaweed paired with duck breast for instance). The portions are relatively large. For starter, would recommend the fried brussel sprouts, if you're not a blue cheese lover, the cauliflower soup might be too heavy. For main course, would recommend the cod fish but the beef, duck breast, and the lamb was also very flavorful. Duck breast was cooked to tender, and very creative taste too. But a little bit disappointed with the desserts - chocolate moose and red velvet cake (or maybe the hot dishes have simply outshined the desserts). The portion for desserts are too large (did I just say that?).. so it was a bit too heavy. But overall the atmosphere of Furu was cozy, almost like a private kitchen club. All stars for the friendly service and high...
Read moreDigital marketing is the only way this restaurant has good ratings. Do not go there. I ordered an octopus entrée and I got two tiny dried octopus legs, an even dryer imported mussel and everything was tasteless and barely warm. Then I ordered a beef burger as main course. I will be damned if there was any beef in there. There was a small amount of fatty unidentified meat mixed up with loads of grated bread. Here again, there was no taste at all. The waiting time between courses was excruciating (over 45 minutes) although there were only three busy tables. No one should spend a penny on such food or service. So, once again...
