While the food at Dumplings was decent, it wasn’t great unfortunately. The dumplings, in particular, were underwhelming with flavours that lacked vibrancy, and some even completely missed the mark. The Szechuan chilli dumplings lacked the expected spice, which was disappointing. Additionally, all the steamed dumplings seemed to adhere stubbornly to the paper underneath, making them difficult to enjoy. The cucumber salad while tasty it was just a couple of slices of cucumber for 45 NOK. Some of the better dishes, the shiitake fried dumplings were tasty as were the fried Lion's mane mushrooms and the fried cheese bread sticks which had a good price point for the quality and the quantity.
For some reason I was also seated at what appeared to be the worst table in the place - cramped and nestled against the mirrors , there really shouldn’t be a table there to begin with. The place was fully booked yes, but there were many other available tables when I arrived. If I was seated in any other table I would have enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant more as it was quite nice, just not from where I was seated specifically.
I am sure a lot of people will love this place more than me, Norwegians specifically value the experience of going out and drinking more than eating, and for this, the place will deliver. But if you are looking for great dumplings, this is...
Read moreBooked a table for four and were excited to check out the new place in town. Started with some drinks and unfortunately one of them was undrinkable, even though it was a simple sour drink. We decided not to complain or do anything about it, given that they’re new. Decided to move forward with the food, ordered a good selection of dishes. The waiter forgot one of them. The food in general was okay, but nothing special. One of the deserts wasn’t good at all. It tasted a bit funky. Perhaps it was a bit spoiled as it tasted bitter. The worst part was that when the desert came, all the dirty plates from main courses were still there together with all the napkins and chilli sauces, and they just expected us to eat the sweet desert from the dirty plates.. Ordered some more drinks in the meantime and the waiter just forgot about it again. All in all, they all seemed a bit zoned out and careless.
When it came to the payment, they weren’t helpful at all and suggested that we have to transfer the money to each other instead of splitting the bill.
Overall a bad experience due to totally careless service. The food is just okay. A...
Read moreI was very happy when I finally found the time to come here! Visited for lunch, which I think was a smart decision. As mentioned by several, you need to buy (and pay for) quite a lot of dumplings to get propper full. Going here for lunch gives you the option of tasting their dumplings, without breaking the bank on a big dinner.
The dumplings were all very good. Loved the flavours and the creative combinations. My favourite were the “taskekrabbe” and the mushroom dumplings. Pea dumplings the least interesting ones, but still good. You can skip the orange salad, but definitely go for the smashed cucumbers.
Service much better than people write. Either they upped their level, or we came at a very good time. Super friendly staff explaining everything we ate and were very attentive with for example filling up water.
All in all...
