The ambiance was pretty nice. It was interesting that although there was 7 minutes to our reservation I wasn’t even offered a bar chair to wait for my friends. We were helped with the table though, appreciated the effort for arranging 2 extra places for our friends. The wine menu was impressingly massive. I wasn’t amazed by the food menu so only ordered a snack to accompany my friends. I was a bit surprised to see a whole can of tinned fish just opened and then brought the way it was. It was tasty tinned fish and sourdough bread for sure but nevertheless, nothing fancy. I tried 3 different wines. My favourite has been the Barbera. The first red by the glass (Croatian) was way too acidic for me. The first rose on the bottle wine list was fine. Also, I was a little stressed when we were asked often what we were gonna drink while we still had wines in our glasses. Overall, cute spot but I’d only visit here for a glass of...

Came here with my parents for a dinner after hearing all the hype and amazing reviews. Very disappointing experience due mostly to extremely long waiting time between dishes. We ordered 7 courses to share but they all came one by one and sometimes with 1hr wait in between.the food is good but didn’t amaze us either. At that price I expected better and you can have better in Oslo. Few items (food and wine) were also not available to order. We reminded the staff several times about our food and a wine cooler. Maybe it was a busy night and they couldn’t handle it ? We left the restaurant hungry and disappointed. In a place like this I would expect at least an acknowledgment or excuses from the staff but we didn’t get any. Didn’t feel very...

Nektar is one of those very special places that you should make sure to experience in Oslo. Make reservations- it’s small and very busy. We had a group of 6 so we let them choose our plates and the wine. We started with their house classic Anchovy Toast and it was incredible. Dish after dish was excellent- locally sourced ingredients (honey from the hives down the street- yes really local) and creative interpretations of classics, like Mac & Cheese.

The wine pairing was also great. The food was so incredible we almost forgot how perfectly the wine accompanied our dishes.

Overall it was fantastic- make this one of your special places when...

I am far from the first person to find and try out this gem - but I also want to give praise to such a lovely place. Both the food and the wine menu is great, and the staff knows their stuff. Also takes time out of their busy work days to explain to you both what you are drinking and eating. The Mac and cheese here is famous for a reason, so do definitely check it out. The place itself is also stunning. Dark, candles, busy and romantic. A perfect place to enjoy a date with friends or a cosy winter evening. This place definitely fills up, so come early or book a table. I will definitely do that myself, cause I am already excited to come back!
