Now I understand why Douglas Adams placed the Restaurant at the End of the Universe where he did. Longyearbyen truly feels like that moment of reconstruction after the universe has ended. Eating dinner with my partner in such magnificent absurdity, under a sun that casts an eternal, almost nullifying light, felt utterly surreal. We were caught in this regular, eternal present, yet our focus was entirely on how delicious the beef ball soup was, what was sprinkled on the siumai, or how the rice mixed perfectly with the Tom Yum soup. It was a complete juxtaposition of timelines. The mundane realities of everyday life, like a parallel world, seemed to hang over the snow-capped mountains. As I put lobster into my mouth, the 24-hour sun shone down, and I could almost picture polar bears wandering between the snowy peaks. Beyond all the romantic and fantastical experiences, the food itself was incredibly fresh, generous, and truly great! And since pho is my ultimate comfort food, it genuinely felt like I was eating the best meal...

I can't believe that you can enjoy authentic Thai food in one of the most remote places on Earth!! I had a pad kra pao Thai style and it was very tasty. The spiciness was exactly like in Bangkok. The fried egg I think is the best I've ever tasted in my life.

The service was also very friendly and welcoming, and she was proactive in offering free mineral water, even when we didn't order any drinks. The food came really fast. It warms my heart to hear the staff speaking Thai, a really beautiful language. The place also has a nice atmosphere and it was lovely to see a small statue of Tossakan. We had an amazing dining experience at a Thai shop in Svalbard! The food was absolutely fantastic, and the highlight for me was the Panang curry—it was perfectly spicy, just the way I like it! The flavors were rich, well-balanced, and truly authentic, which was a delightful surprise in the Arctic.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Despite being in such a remote location, the restaurant delivered high-quality Thai cuisine that exceeded our expectations.
