It’s the 2nd time I order, first time one year ago I got the noodles with duck and was just full of sauce and it didn’t taste amazingly good. I’ve tried lots of Asian restaurants (cause I love the food) and this one is clearly the worst. Yesterday my bf and I came home late from a flight and wanted to order some food since we had an empty fridge, he mentioned this restaurant and I was like “hmm idk…” and he was like just order something else, we ordered the Thai pad noodles (chicken and shrimp) and it came super spicy, he like spicy food, I don’t that much. But it was unstable, from the first bite our tongues were on fire (and we even removed the chill flakes of the top thinking it would get better but for each bite a glass of water we had to chug… we contacted wolf service and they said it could take 48h… next day they said the restaurant replied saying “we always cook the same way, people is the one with different tastes” I mean… EXCUSE ME?? They won’t return the money, or give a voucher nor repeat the food, at least do APOLOGISE! I have been working in a restaurants too and this is UNACCEPTABLE. They should be ashamed!! I even tried washing the noodles with water to be able to eat it and it wasn’t possible… We still have the tuppers at home just in case they would ask...
Read moreHonestly, I only ever have the duck dishes particularly the Peking duck. Crispy, tasty, generous portion, and..... an outstanding value for Peking duck. Normally it is double the price and available after a 24 hour notice at other restaurants. With the flavorings and the accompaniments it compares favorably to some finer sit down places that offer duck. It is basically a boneless breast filet perhaps 125g or so.
Service is good in my opinion as entrees are made ala minut. My only complaint about service is that they do not seem to follow their own opening hours and have often found the restaurant closed unexpectedly. They have lost about 33% of my potential business. In my first review of this place almost 10 years ago I mentioned the family children playing in the restaurant (in lieu of babysitting) but these days they seemed to have aged out.
So go for the duck, there or take away. Costs about the same as a fast food burger meal but...
Read moreI craved for duck and came to Thuy Asia Restaurant because of the price shown in their online menu (on their website), which was cheaper compared to their Thai competitors. This rating is for the Hong Kong duck dish only (because I didn’t order anything else). With that being said, I would give them a 5-star review. The portion was generous. The duck was juicy inside and crispy on the outside. The sauce was a good balance of sweetness, sourness and spiciness. The rice was just enough for one person. There was plenty of veggies in the bowl as well. The presentation was nice and fancy enough for a date night. The vibe and colors in the restaurant were pretty cool and cozy. It was a small place but I...
