One of the worst Biriyani & Mandi iv'e tried in Muscat. First of all, we went there on Eid al Adha day, so they were short of staff, but the server guy managed to give us the food, atleast he tried, he was literally a one man army. The guy sitting behind the cash counter could do some help, atleast take the orders... We ordered Shuwa chicken with Mandi rice, thought of ordering extra once we get the mandi in front of us , since we were not well aware of the portion size. But it took Ages for the thing to arrive. Seriously almost 45 mins of wait. If I'm not wrong, they make Shuwa, whether it's chicken or meat,in big batches; isn't it? Ok forget the wait, if the food was good, yes it would be worth the wait.... But 😩😩😩😩😩
Now, once the Shuwa mandi arrived we got to know that it was a portion what we din't expect, so we asked what could he bring instantly, and came the reply that the Hyderabadi Dum Chicken Biriyani is ready. Got one, tasted it along the side of Mandi. Seriously, how can someone simply boil rice with some meat in it with some low grade store bought spices and name it 'Hyderabadi Biryani'??? Or.... Am I wrong?? Is it from another HYDERABAD?? Some who cooks Hyderabad biriyani for the first time watching Youtube can do better.
Now our seat was pretty close to the handwash area, which had a toilet along with it. The whole 30-45 mins wait time, i was experiencing kind of a funny smell. But couldn't recognise what it was. After the meal, we got to know that the smell was the typical room freshner in the toilet. The toilet and the dining hall are connected.... 😫😫😫 It works both ways, no need of seperate room freshner for the dining area, and the toilet is Air conditioned... See, how smart is that 😎😎
And the most striking thing about my visit to this place is, we went there after seeing a Vlog That too by a reputed Vlogger, i wanted to share the Guy's name here, but don't want to ruin whatever leftover reputation he or his channel has. I'm sure that most of the Mallus in Oman and even all over middle East knows him well... And this is not the first time I'm having similar experience at restaurants suggested by this guy through his reels. Now this one just makes it more clear that HE's just doing a paid promotion with no sincerity in...
Read moreGreat food offering value for money. The delivery service is excellent - I have ordered often and the food is delivered warm and quicky. My favourite on the menu is the Mutton Shuwa Mandi (a fork-tender lamb shank on a spicy bed of flavoured rice); another good option are the lunch boxes (which offer an Indian version of a bento box, which mix and match assorted meat and veggies, at reasonable prices); the traditional curries and fried dishes (without rice) are good but they are more expensive when ordered individually as sides or mains. In general, the slow-cooked red meat dishes (e.g. mutton/lamb) are best, but some of the fried dishes tend to be over-cooked leading to drier less juicy meat. The rice is usually very good. I don't think you eat here for...
Read moreI recently visited Hyderabad Palace Restaurant and was blown away by the authentic taste of their Biriyani! It was cooked to perfection and the flavors were spot on.
But what really stole the show was their Haleem - it was deliciously rich and flavorful! The quantity was generous too, making it a great value for money.
The service at the restaurant was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff. The atmosphere was also great, making for a wonderful dining experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Hyderabad Palace Restaurant for anyone craving authentic Hyderabadi cuisine. Can't wait to go back!
