Well, I’ve been to this hotel twice (July 2009 and April 2011) and both times for business reasons. What can I say? It’s a clean and calm hotel with decent room service, expensive (but good) beer, delicious sea food, slowest internet and no pool. ||||Location… it took us about an hour walk to get to the closest beach; the hotel is surrounded by construction sites but it is a normal thing that the area is being renovated and reconstructed. The taxi from the airport cost us 6 or 7 OMR. Note that all the taxi services are state-owned, unlike Dubai all the drivers are locals (some of them are employed by state security service) so please avoid negative talking about the sultan or country politics etc. ||||Ok, back to the hotel. It is not a hotel for tourists for sure as one would like to get something closer to a beach but for business purposes it is ok apart from slow/dead internet. Fish courses in the restaurant hotel are the best and are a must. There is also a bar (separate building) adjacent to the hotel but we never found a time to hang in there.
