Bowshar International Hotel, Muscat — Hotel in Muscat

Well, I’ve been to this hotel twice (July 2009 and April 2011) and both times for business reasons. What can I say? It’s a clean and calm hotel with decent room service, expensive (but good) beer, delicious sea food, slowest internet and no pool. ||||Location… it took us about an hour walk to get to the closest beach; the hotel is surrounded by construction sites but it is a normal thing that the area is being renovated and reconstructed. The taxi from the airport cost us 6 or 7 OMR. Note that all the taxi services are state-owned, unlike Dubai all the drivers are locals (some of them are employed by state security service) so please avoid negative talking about the sultan or country politics etc. ||||Ok, back to the hotel. It is not a hotel for tourists for sure as one would like to get something closer to a beach but for business purposes it is ok apart from slow/dead internet. Fish courses in the restaurant hotel are the best and are a must. There is also a bar (separate building) adjacent to the hotel but we never found a time to hang in there. Just i arrive in Muscat from 4 days, the bad luck is i need stay with my job here and on this hotel booked by the customer.|| The rooms are ok like dimension, but the AC in room is disaster , full of lickeage impossible to set the temperature less of 27 degree.|| I stay with the box of the garbage on the desk to flow the water inside.||The menu of restaurant is very big but the quality is very bad, many of my colleagues , inclusive me have problems with the stomach.|| In one evening i order a Tournedos Steak, who eat this will say, wow, great , very good, but here this need be take out from the menu. I wait to bring be a good and nice steak, but in the end arrive a pieces of meat, slim and flat like a paper book, old and very hard.Impossible to consume.|| Personal here is ok, very kind and helpful, but the service is very, very bad. || Try another hotel with the same price, you will find some with pool and gym on the same price or with 5-6 riyal more, but impossible to...
