Booking-Booked table on weekend over call with Noureen who was cooperative and great.
Service-Got served by waiter Naveed. Took my family to try out Japanese food especially sushi. The menu was confusing and not helpful for a first timer and the waiter seemed irritated when asked to suggest what to order. This made me feel uncomfortable. Waiters are suppose to be warm, friendly and not irritated, impatient and want to rush. Although it was a full house and they seemed under staffed.
Food- I have had sushi internationally in different countries and if one tries authentic sushi they instantly fall in love. Sakura's sushi was dryyyy and taste was below average . Fish shop at boat basin has better and cheaper sushi to be honest. The other food item portion size was tiny and it was okay for the flavour of the food because if we were given a bigger portion size we couldn't have eaten it happily due to the taste. The taste of the food is okay a 2.8/5.
The portion size definitely matched the flavour.
Ambience- on a Saturday-didnt feel I was in an expensive restaurant. It was too noisy ..way too noisy. Packed with upper class people (a few tables were soo noisy and lost in themselves that thought they owned the place) I have been here twice and noticed this the other time too. If you like quiet places then it would be advisable to go on a weekday.
Bill- 25,000 (2 sushi,2 tiny bowls of garlic rice,chicken sause/stew,beef tenderloin,2...
Read moreThe ambiance is amazing. The manager and waiters on the floor are extremely accommodating. They’ll really make you feel totally comfortable. I came here around 2:45pm. I ordered tuna sashimi, and octopus sushi, the octopus sushi is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The textures are beautiful, the flavour of the sea with the chewy texture of the octopus is a perfect combination. Finally, for dessert, I had the matcha ice cream, the texture of the ice cream is definitely peculiar, but it’s the flavour of the matcha that shines through and makes it something you would totally come back for. They pour you green tea, on the house before bringing in your food. They do accept cards, I personally paid by debit card here. Also, the view is pretty cool from where I was sitting. The per head cost is pretty decent, it’s not super duper expensive as people make it out to be, the per head largely depends on how much you eat and how many people there are. I would definitely bring a friend or two here and I would totally...
Read moreOrdered 3 Makis and 2 Tepanyakis with rice and the bill was of 27K for 2 people. That's just slightly below the monthly salary of an average working Pakistani. Its so grossly overpriced, its not even funny. It felt almost criminal to be charging such premiums. And the issue is that the food is not even that good. Everyone says that Sakura is the most exclusive restaurant in the city. But the truth of the matter is that Teppanyakis were just average and lots of other places now have equally good sushi makis, if not better and at much more competitive prices. Yazu and Cocochan have much better sushi now than Sakura. The restaurant felt like a rip off. On the positive side though, the staff is courteous and service was decent. Ambiance-wise, its right up there among the best in karachi. Seating around the live teppanyaki bar is comfortable. The view from rooftop of PC is gorgeous at night and the fish swimming in the in-house restaurant pond give it a...
