I'm so happy to find out this ramen chain had not one, but two locations in Panama -- the only one in all of LatAm. After tasting the biggest names in the biz that had opened locations in New York, then going to the OG shops in Tokyo, I was thrilled to see a legit place pop up in Panama City. Ajisen did not disappoint. I went all in and had the Ajisen Best Combo so I could have a nice survey of their hit parade in one bowl: chashu, soy marinated boneless ribs, soft-boiled egg, tonkotsu pork-bone broth and house noodles. It was like four meals in one bowl! You could eat the chashu, ribs and soup separately with a side of noodles, and they could each be a standalone delicious meal. Each item was executed with care and very good seasoning. I paired this feast with an Asahi and a karaage starter. Needless to say, I was stuffed, but very happy. This is the gold standard by which all ramens in Panama will be judged. Now I know what I'll order for at least the next...
Read moreThis is a pretty nice, large scale ramen shop - probably one of the largest I’ve seen in any country. The service is good, and the ramen broth is quite flavorful, plus they offer low sodium options when you order. Their apps are pretty unimpressive, underwhelming, and honestly poorly prepared. But they’re cheap so it’s not too big of a deal. Their steak (the topping for some ramens) is also very poorly prepared or of very low quality. You will be chewing it like it’s a thick slice of jerky. We ordered steak on 3 of our dishes and every time the steak was inedible. Thankfully they didn’t have a problem switching out the meat for a different meat of our choice, but it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t enjoy what we actually wanted. Overall, this is a really good franchised ramen shop that I would return to, but next time I’d skip the appetizers and anything with...
Read moreThe restaurant offered an excellent variety of food and drinks. My husband enjoyed his sapporo beer, and I enjoyed a margarita. We had the pork gyoza and it was very good. We also had the KANI salad, and it was excellent. We will order that every single time we go to Ajisen. The volcano ramen was perfect! Each dish was perfect to share. Our service was on point. The entire staff verbally greets each person/group upon arrival, as is customary in the Japanese culture. We were impressed with every aspect of Ajisen. It is now our favorite ramen spot in Panamá.
Thank you Ajisen for a perfect experience! We most definitely...
