Nestled in the heart of Panama City, Island Escape Restaurant & Lounge offers a delightful journey to the flavors of Jamaica. During our recent visit, my party of four, comprised of two couples, had the pleasure of experiencing the authentic Jamaican cuisine, exceptional customer service, vibrant music, and tantalizing drinks not once, but twice.
From the moment we stepped foot into Island Escape, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality, setting the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The staff's attentiveness and professionalism were truly commendable, ensuring that every need was promptly met and every question answered with enthusiasm.
Now, let's talk about the food. Each dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with the bold and aromatic flavors characteristic of Jamaican cuisine. From the savory jerk chicken, oxtail's, to the flavorful saltfish appetizer, and the various side's every bite transported us to the sun-drenched shores of the Caribbean. The chef's dedication to using fresh, high-quality ingredients was evident in every dish, leaving us craving for more with each passing moment.
But it wasn't just the food that impressed us; it was the lively ambiance created by the authentic Jamaican music. We found ourselves tapping our feet, fully immersed in the vibrant atmosphere that Island Escape exudes.
And let's not forget about the drinks. Island Escape boasts an impressive selection of cocktails, each expertly crafted to perfection. Whether you're in the mood for a fruit punch or a refreshing fruit punch infused with rum, the staff at Island Escape will not disappoint.
In conclusion, Island Escape Restaurant & Lounge is more than just a dining establishment; it's a cultural experience that celebrates the rich tapestry of Jamaican cuisine and hospitality. Read moreA very disappointing and unprofessional experience. The music was too loud like a club with big speakers next to us. We had to tell the DJ to turn it down. It is meant to be a restaurant after all. We couldn't even hear each other speak. The oxtail we ordered had piece of plastic inside it! When we complained they said sorry apparently it was from the rice bag but it was not in the rice it was found inside the curry. They didn't do much except give me another plate which they said will be a few minutes to serve. I felt that was a bit too fast to make a fresh meal? As a complimentary gesture they said they will throw in a side of plantain. We waited more than 20 mins and no waiters on the floor by then my partner had already eaten. My food was interrupted I was no longer hungry so I asked to cancel the order I lost my appetite by then. When the meal appeared and the waitress told me it's on the house so I said ok I don't really want it but you can just box it up for me if needs be. Then the bill came out and they charged me for the oxtail. We had to get the bill corrected and they only did that after taking away the food they had boxed up for me which was meant to be free. The staff were offended when it was poor service when we should have been offended. The oxtail was not very good it didn't even look like oxtail it was so thin and small. My partner is a Jamaican chef and he rated the restaurant very poorly as well. You only have to look at the pic of the scratched up old plate the food is served in to know the standard of this place. There's plenty of better top quality restaurants in Panama. I...
Read moreI was at that restaurant about a month ago. The food was good but I had a hard time to get my retirement discount. I am a Panamanian. I told the young lady I will not pay the bill because I'm being overcharged. She called the owner and she help her by telephone on how to give me the discount. We'll I went into the restaurant again today with my friend which is a professor at the university. This time the food was terrible. They remembered me from a month ago when I ask for my 25% discount which the law 6 of Panama said I'm entitled to. The curry goat this time was nothing but bones and their price went up to $17.00 on that dish. When my bill came I was only given 15% which is wrong. I politely told the young lady it's 25% not 15% , My friend showed her on the phone what the law stated. And the young lady said the accountant came in and stated they can give 15% or 25% . I ask her where is it posted in the restaurant. She said the person was going make a copy and bring it back. . So my friend said that the law is 25% . So she called the owner and gave me the 25% . But her attitude was so so bad and disrespectful and I'm asking for what the law says I'm entitled to. It was supposed to be off the whole bill but she only gave off the meal. Please pay attention in that restaurant the don't give you correct discount by law. They would never see me in there again. I walked out after paying the bill and I left no tip. We go to patronize our people but...
