Restaurante Madero — Restaurant in Bella Vista

I was a little worried eating here because it was empty at about 1:30pm? It’s located in a great area and was near my hotel, so I gave it a shot and I was happy I did! The restaurant is beautiful and has a nice view of a park next door. The service was FANTASTIC! Everybody was nice especially my waiter.

I ordered the following; melon juice with milk Clams in garlic sauce (almejas al ajillo) Chowder (caldo gallego) Pasta mix with shrimp (Fideua con camarones)

That melon juice with milk was amazingly fresh and delicious! I know it’s a little pricey for Panama but I was pleasantly surprised!

The clams in garlic sauce was my 2nd favorite dish. Look at all the clams they give you! I ordered too much because Most restaurants only give 12-15 clams but this place gave me so many clams that I was almost full after eating it with the delicious garlic bread they give you.

The caldo gallego was a rich chowder. It has like bacon or ham, beans and potato inside which is delicious with bread but heavy. This alone would be a nice meal for lunch with some good bread.

The Fideua was very tasty and fresh as well. The noodles were like an angel hair pasta or a thin rice noodle like a “mai-fun” chopped up into small pieces. Delicious flavor overall and was happy taking it home.

I would say Cafe Madero and Kyoto Sakaba were the 2 best dining experiences I had in Panama and would highly recommend.

Total Price was around $45-47 with tip but this was a meal for 2 because I took 1/2 the caldo gallego and fideua back...

Very bad service. I was with 2 friends and the waiter didn't even ask if we wanted water or smth to drink. I ordered a Montecristo and wanted jelley. The guy brought me honey even though I clarified twice. Later he made fun of me. Then I wanted napkins and he said I should use the one where the fork is. But I said I wanted more napkins since I only had one. I was thirsty but he didn't come once to offer. So I had to ask. But felt he was doing me a favor and I was asking for smth he wasn't suppose to give. I didn't get why he would make fun of me. So disrespectul. My favorite place for breakfast in Panamá city.
