Went there today after hearing about it from a mutual friend who recommended the area as a short day visit and to check out the restaurant. I was two hours by bus in Pacasmayo and called to find out when the last service would be to make sure I made it there in time. Left early to make sure I got there at 3:30.
After a 2 hour trip, I arrived and the tables were half filled in the restaurant. Walked in and the waiter stopped us on the way in. They had run out of food.
As he said this, more food orders were put in as orders to the kitchen and plates of food were coming out of the restaurant. I said that it didn’t matter the plate, whatever they had we would have. He laughed and another waiter came and said that they had run out of food. It was an hour and half prior to their closing on a Tuesday with half filled tables.
I don’t write reviews regularly, I always give the restaurants the benefit of the doubt. Know the job is hard and the margins are thin, but I’ve never been laughed at and totally disregarded as this place.
Plan another restaurant as a backup or, as in my case, don’t plan for this restaurant at all. As a Peruvian myself, there are many ceviche restaurants that are amazing. And if they don’t have a particular plate or simply want to close early will let you know honestly, nothing worse than traveling hours, getting there with time before closing, and being lied to and laughed at.

Read moreRIP OFF TOURIST TRAP: Payed an outlandish amount for a serving of ceviche that was smaller then a fist full, an dropped up with lettuce, and warm. I have seriously gotten Menu ceviche starters as bigger portions. We complained and they retunred with maybe 10% more added. Our picante pulpo dish must have had no more than 2 grams of octopus, and was 50% seaweed, and flavorless, and the portion was maybe one ladle full is a shallow bowl. Absolute RIP OFF. It was sad because we live in Trujillo and its not often we get ripped off at restaurants, this was one of the...
Read moreExcellent ceviche. Our ceviche mixto was the best that we’ve had in 6 weeks in Peru. It was pricey at 37 soles for a portion (fuente is 80 soles), but it was worth it. Tender fish, plenty of octopus and some tasty shrimp. They refilled our tostado which was nice. The service was not the greatest and we were over charged for a soda, but it was a busy day, so we understood. Nice place for ceviche...
