Almacén Cevichería — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

I came here with some friends for a quick bite since I have heard a lot about this place. The restaurant it’s tucked in a quiet street with no outlet so now you can imagine if you drive up here. To find parking and maneuver through all the cars parked on both side of the street it’s no easy task, but if you cabbed it here then you are good to go. The entrance. Make sure you have a reservation (mainly for weekends) since it’s going to be fully booked which is a good sign for any restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation but since we came in very early they had a no show table which was offered to us after around a 20mins wait. We ordered ceviche, tiraditos, and Peruvian corn bread (pastel de choclo I believe it was called). I’m guessing it’s because we were in Miraflores but the price/food quality was an ooook for me. Maybe it’s because I recently had some of the best seafood at another place, that unconsciously I was comparing both places. Not to mention it was impossible to have a normal conversation since it was so loud inside that we just ate quickly and left to another place so we could be able to talk without having to shout over the table. We actually mentioned it to the hosted on the way out and she did say it was a know issue. So I would highly recommend sitting outside, or if you sit inside get the tables next to the backyard. El servicio muy bueno, nos tocaron dos meseros: el primero fue muy intenso (recién nos sentábamos y ya nos urgía a pedir), la segunda muy amable y entusiasta, se le notaba feliz de atender a los clientes.

El ambiente bueno, entramos con reserva y es lo más conveniente ya que SE LLENA (fuimos fin de semana) y las mesas están lo suficientemente alejadas como para tener intimidad para conversar. Cabe resaltar que para ser la primera vez que íbamos, no nos dieron ninguna introducción sobre el restaurante, ni sus platos como si vi que lo hacían en otras mesas.

Sobre la comida, estoy conflictuada: La ejecución de los platos, fue impecable, se notan los ingredientes de calidad y la técnica en las preparaciones.

El perfil de sabores, lamentablemente no fue de nuestro gusto (y es un tema de gustos). Para nuestro gusto personal, el arroz con mariscos tenía demasiados ingredientes y sabores (espárragos, pimientos, champiñones, sabores de parrilla, etc) que sentimos es demasiado para el plato, la sopa (tenía un sabor diferente a un tradicional chupe, y me parece que el sabor crece (en el sentido de que te agrada más) en cuanto más lo tomas, la jalea estuvo muy buena, no es muy de mi gusto el puré de camote y creo que le queda increíble a la cecina, pero de nuevo, demasiados perfiles de sabores juntos. Las tortitas de choclo, ricas y bien rellenitas…el tartar (yo sentí que la mayonesa estaba muy invasiva) y si o si necesitaba el limón para cortar la grasa que le aporta la mayonesa.

Derrepente no estamos acostumbrados a este tipo de cocina, y no está mal que no nos termine de convencer.

Dicho todo lo anterior, SI recomiendo ir y probar la carta, ya que tienen muy buena calidad y excelente ejecución de sus platos, se nota que conocen sus productos para sacarles provecho.

Es una cuestión de gustos, me lo pensaría...

I've eaten Ceviche all over Peru, I've eaten a number of the best restaurants in Peru. But if you asked me which restaurant you have to go to in Lima. This would be my number 1 recommendation. The food is superb. I've eaten here 3 times and tried a large range of the menu and haven't been disappointed by anything. I usually write pretty abstract reviews for the sake of creative writing practice. But the truth is, this place is just great. The service, the atmosphere, the food. It's perfect. And the price is actually criminally cheap for the quality they are providing.

100/10 my favorite...
