The property/setting is in Miraflores, the second most affluence district of Lima. A very safe district where one can roam day or evening. The building, is non distinct and does not even have markings (due to security issues??). Location is very good, with the ability to walk to a variety of local sites (i.e. Parque Kennedy, Cat/ Dog Park, etc.). If up for walking, even a stroll to the ocean is possible.||As with all my reviews, I will attempt to detail the top 3/bottom 3 attributes of the hotel. In addition, see my Money tips and rambling thoughts.||Top Three attributes||1-Staff. The staff is extremely accommodative. The proprietors (Rafael & Pillar) catered to absolutely every need. The airport pickups were flawless and other arrangements were met without any hesitation. When dealing with a variety of properties in the country, I found it difficult to get replies to e-mails, but this was not the case with this property (very prompt). Cab ride arrangement, clear and known price (up front). On the language front , they do try their best to accommodate non Spanish dialects. I believe that one of their sons (Diego), is fluent in English and he is very helpful if present;||2-Location. As mentioned, the property is in a very nice Lima district. Close to the Indian/Peruvian markets, Food markets, Parque Kennedy, etc. Excellent restaurants (i.e. Las Tejas/others) are near also. Beware of some of the Italian restaurants. Being Italian, some were very poor in quality (but hey, you’re not in Italia!). Having stated that, you may want to consider elsewhere if you desire to be located more close to the old part of town (i.e. Plaza Mayor – 20 mins by cab);||3-Breakfast. Very basic, but enough to enable you to get a jump on the day. Standard fare each day, and not a great selection (i.e. bread rolls, eggs, jam, juice). We did not ask (same very day), but other options may be available due to diet restrictions?||Bottom Three attributes||1-Street noise. (I.e. specifically, the noise in room 201). For us, our sleep was disrupted due to the traffic. In Peru, drivers typically hit their horns 10 times prior to finishing their first cup of coffee! If you get this room, you may want to specifically ask for other rooms in the back if you are a light sleeper. We had two legs on our trip, and were put into one of the back rooms, and it was quiet there. But this is a warning.||2-Commmunication. Communication with staff may be a challenge if you don’t have rudimentary Spanish skills. Do not expect translations, but staff tries their best. We were able to ascertain cab rides, get simple advice, etc., just with our attempts. But just be aware.||3-Rooms are no frills. You do get Wi-Fi, a TV and basic bed, but don’t expect a great deal more. Grounds (being in the city), are not noteworthy.||Note: Inn only would accept cash (USD or Soles).||In summary, a basic Inn that caters to your needs. Is not the Marriot, but we found the atmosphere safe and accommodative?||Money Tip-In most large cities, USD or Soles can be used for most transactions. In the larger cities, most banks give you the option of withdrawing in Soles or USD. When in the boonies, you may want to stick with the country currency (Soles). It is odd, that given the fluctuations in the translations from the USD to Soles, some vendors don’t keep up with the currency exchange and you can work that to your advantage. OH, VERY IMPORTANT. If you arrive with USD, make sure that the bills are crisp and clean. Most of the folks we dealt with, would NOT accept torn or excessively worn bills. Of course, they would accept Soles that are practically rags.||Now some rambling thoughts. If you fancy to go to Machu Picihu and walk/hike any of the trail (or anywhere near Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientas), BEWARE of the insects. They easily drink insecticide and move on to you! Want to try a biking/culinary experience in Lima, you can’t beat the Huarique Bike Team. If going to Cusco, the Tika Wasi Casa Boutique is recommended. Eating Cuuy? not much meat. Alpaca steaks (for the carnivores) is worth trying. Airport lines are atrocious. This is partly because, everyone (mostly large) check in bags! Huge variation in price, for same cab routes.||To you and yours, happy and safe travels. If hope this is...
Read moreMy wife and I spent two nights here. For the price, this is an excellent, no-frills B&B located a short walk (8-10 minutes) to the City Centre. The toilets were very clean. The showers had hot water which was very welcome after a long and tiring flight! The linen and towels were clean. They make your bed every day which is a bonus. Breakfast is basic but filling including bread, butter, jam, fruits, fruit juice and eggs. It is quite at night as is located slightly away from the freeway. The place felt extremely secure with main gate and door locked at all times. My wife found the Wi-Fi to be very good. They also offered an airport pick-up and drop-off for a reasonable cost. There is no laundry on-site but there is one DIY a short walk away. Ask them for a map of the area and they will mark it down for you in addition to the money exchange places and eateries. Diego, the person I was communicating with (over emails and in person) was extremely helpful. It was very easy for us to communicate with him in English, a big advantage. From memory, they accept only cash. Would be best to check. All in all, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation to people visiting Lima...
Read moreTraveling with a group of friends, we arrived much earlier than expected. We were tired (had been traveling for over 24 hours) and dirty (we had been to the jungle). The staff never batted an eye or acted frustrated or upset that we piled in on them before the arranged time. They warmly welcomed us, prepared our rooms asap and took care of us with the utmost hospitality and kindness. They prepared a wonderful breakfast with heavenly coffee! Once we were rested and showered, they then patiently answered multitudes of questions from all of us regarding exploring Lima. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and in a convenient location for exploring Miraflores. If you don’t want to walk, a taxi to just about anywhere within Miraflores is only 6 soles (less than $2 US)! Our group and my husband and I have stayed in other hotels in Miraflores. This was our favorite! No doubt about where we’ll stay next time! I can’t thank the staff enough for...
