The food is absolutely scrumptious and there are so many unique options that you can’t find in other Peruvian restaurants. Presentation was gorgeous, and we ordered one salad starter, Carnaval. The fruits and leaves in the salad were from their own garden behind the restaurant, so it was quite freshening. The a Rocoto de Gallina main, was very unique and unexpectedly tasteful. The presentation was lovely; little purple flowers on the brown rice, and an appetizing chicken with hummus to go together. My order was the Horralizas à la Parrilla pasta, was roasted vegetables and green-white pastas, coated in olive oil and sprinkles of cheese. This pasta was definitely the favorite dish. Next, my friend ordered the alpaca hamburger Hamburgesa de Alpaca. It was somewhat average, with dry and thick bread, but with fresh vegetables from their garden. At last, we had the seasonal cake, lemon pie, as dessert. The lemon pie was covered in too much cream, and the lemon filling was a little too sweet for my liking. However, the crust was perfect- crispy but baked to the best texture. All of the dishes were so delicious. The wait time wasn’t long, like other restaurants, and the servers were kind and spoke English. 10/10 :)

Tucked in just off the Ollantaytambo train station, this place is fantastic. The food is by far the best in Ollantaytambo (and most of Perú, from what I experienced), the service is great and the atmosphere is very pleasant. They use fresh produce from their organic farm in most of their dishes. There are many vegetarian and vegan options and several gluten free options. Their pasta dishes (all of which can be made with rice instead of pasta for those that are gluten free) come in full and half-size portions and feature fresh hand-made pasta. The putanesca was my absolute favorite. It is full of fresh vegetables from their farm and local-made chorizo. The drinks are also fantastic. They are made with Caña Alta, a sugarcane liquor made at the Destilería Andina, located on their organic farm (both it and their coffee roastery are worth a visit if you have the time). Do yourself a favor and try the Tónica Pimiento Molle or the Negroni, both so good. The staff is warm and knowledgeable. I was beyond pleased with the caliber of service, food, and beverage. Definitely worth a stop (or two) on your trip through the sacred valley.

Ok place for lunch or dinner. Food was well prepared....I had a "lama burger" once and I don't remember for the second visit. The food was maybe a little too "authentic" for me. Not enough spices.....or something. This place does not serve soft drinks...there is only so much coca tea and herbal tea one can drink in my book. I had a rather expensive "limeade" type drink.....only fair. I think the owners deserve a lot of credit for restoring what was ( I think) a largely abandoned train station. Restrooms are clean and just off the main dining area. There is a very good brownie and ice cream dessert. There is a gift shop that has the famous "Mata Cuy" t-shirt.......You might have to visit the Cusco/Ollantaytampo area to "get" the joke.

Terrible place that tries to rip you off. Ordered two meals that arrived with half of the plate missing. When we asked about the missing side of salad, toast and hash brown for the omlette they seemed to not really understand the issue (I spoke Spanish to them the whole time) they tried to fix it but kept saying "esta bien" which is really annoying. The other plate was missing the side of salad which they redirecting to the salsa... I told them I'm talking about the "ensalada", I then asked them to bring the menu so I can show them what should be brought out and they kept on saying "esta bien" which was even more annoying. They tried to fix the issue by redoing the omlette as it got cold and when it arrived it was not correct with missing sides again... At this point we just gave up and left. It is clear to many tourists just pay what they receive and let this place get away with it. The coffee we tried was terrible, it was sour and had no real depth to the flavour (being born in Australia our coffee is very good). All of this makes me sad because I am of South American heratige and it seems this continent does not want to serve tourists but to steal from tourists. Please do not be fooled by this place it truly is terrible and will do anything to rip you off.

Did I mention I had to ask for more fruit because the plate that arrived was literally 70 percent empty... Again trying to rip me off.

Last thing, really expensive for the area. Just go a local restaurant that does desayuno, menu or Cena that comes with a soup, main and drink for 12 sols. Much better option...

The restaurant's complete lack of service and their disregard for their customers' time were utterly appalling. I was left standing at the entrance for a staggering 20 minutes, waiting for someone to acknowledge my presence or offer any form of assistance. The lack of communication and attention from the staff was not only frustrating but also disrespectful.Throughout the agonizing wait, not a single staff member bothered to apologize or provide an explanation for the delay. It seemed as though our presence inconvenienced them. Such a lack of professionalism and courtesy is unacceptable, especially in a restaurant that claims to offer a great dining experience.

Regrettably, I cannot comment on the quality of the food or the overall ambiance since I never had the opportunity to experience them. A restaurant's service is a vital component of the dining experience, and in this case, it was a complete failure.

Furthermore, the fact that this restaurant portrays themselves as an authentic establishment only amplifies the disappointment. We rightfully expect a level of service that matches the restaurant's reputation. Unfortunately, El Albergue failed to meet even the most basic standards of customer service.

Save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and wasted time by seeking out an establishment that values its customers and respects their...
