My husband and I love croissants, especially almond croissants! Everywhere we travel, whether in Asia or the US we like to find a cafe or a pastry shop selling or specializing in croissants . So far we have looked at Manila and Cebu, but it's hard to find one. We know some bakeries in the mall sell some but we find them not good at all. My husband saw this 5g cafe online and we immediately hopped in the car and checked it out. The shop was humble, small but air conditioned. We ordered a latte and of course an almond croissant! The coffee was ok, it's not the taste I prefer like the one you can have from Dunkin, Jco, Crispy cream or any cafe chain, But the croissant is so far the best I ever had here in the Philippines !!!! I hope they will expand and find a better location someday as they say location location location! As for the products they just need to lower the price of the coffee and be aggressive in terms of the price. So far the coffee here in the Philippines is more expensive than in Thailand. We drink coffee 3 to 4 times a day. For a typical coffee lover we would buy multiple times if the price is right. We don't mind spending high as long as the ambiance of the cafe is nice, comfortable and quiet . Some cafes here like loud music which is not...
Read moreI'm a big matcha guy so for starters the matcha latte is definitely a must try. 10/10. Real japanese matcha was definitely used here and 5G's cup does not disappoint.
For croissants, I first tasted the croissants at LK and although their other croissants are good, the matcha croissant there disappointed me so much. When I finally got around to trying 5G's (almost always sold out) matcha croissant, I was on cloud 9; There's a clear winner between using a block of melted white chocolate in the middle versus using a creamy matcha mousse/ ganache of sorts. The strawberry matcha was also really good
My brother even flew back to the Philippines for his wedding and he said that the box of 4 I gave him (tiramisu, pan au Chocolat, almond and matcha) was some of the best croissant he's ever tasted (and that's big for me because he's not a bread guy)
Only bad feedback I can think of for this branch is that the store is kinda small for big groups but the atmosphere makes it feel homely that i was able to do some wfh tasks there in peace. They're also often out of stock before 4pm so Grab your matcha croissant now because they're selling like hotcakes (or in this case...
Read moreActually I thought its closed coz it looks so quiet from outside. But thats a part of their character so it seems. Inside no high end perfect luxury as you know it from most of "western" coffeeshops in Asia. But its full of heart and full of charme. The prices are very high. So.. 180 for a small cappu in normal quality is too expensive. The staff is correct but acted kindness. Not real. Very disappointing: When I arrived, I parked my car at the opposite side from the shop, because the other cars in the street also have been parked there. After more then two hrs, there was another custumer, parking her car in front of the coffeeshop., in a way, that there was only a gap inbetween my car and hers. Nobody can pass. Instead of telling to that person, she can not park like that, the worker came to me, asking to remove my car because "The street is one side parking" but there was no single sign outside, which side was ment. And the other cars in the street also were parked as mine. That experience was rather negative and not...
