This is your B-average dimsum place to go, far from the dimsum fare you get in places such as mainland China and Hong Kong. Food is okay as well as the price. Service is fast and no frills, self service. Place is clean and has a fast-food chain ambiance. Airconditioning is perfect. Location is good with ample parking space within BTC which is free for an hour. Those red square seats though felt uncomfortable.
My favorite meal here is the combination of steamed rice and vegetable lumpia. Don’t expect the same quality as old Cebu original dimsum places or in Hong Kong, but more or less you get that B-league experience here. Another one I recommend is the buchi dessert. A full meal here could cost you around 150 to 250 pesos. Vegetable is also an option with my all-time favorite kangkong guisado.
There are enough seats for a busy day and the store opens early in the morning. Actually it’s 24 hours, or at least just the drive-thru section of the restaurant. Dimsum Break now also accepts payments in GCash. Dimsum Break is affiliated with such other popular dimsum places in Cebu like Harbour City Dimsum House, Ding Qua Qua Dimsum House, and Ding How Dimsum House. Are there any level of differences among these dimsum houses? Hmmm, I haven’t really noticed a remarkable difference except perhaps in the interior design and type of service (in more high end brands of the group the food comes to you in rolling carts). If you’d like the high end dimsum experience, go for David’s Tea House in City Times Square Mall in Mandaue City beside Park Mall, and of course that dimsum franchise from Hong Kong which now has a branch at SM Seaside but I...
Read moreThey got my orders wrong even after I repeated it THRICE! Meaning I had to say it 3 times to the cashier and once to the guy supposedly assembling the order. Since the dine-in orders would need 15 minutes, we agreed to have all of them served at once.
Once served, I was given all non-spicy steamed rice. When I asked the now-different guy (LEMAR on his nametag) assembling orders why all of the steamed rice are not spicy, he was so dismissive and said “walay nakabutang spicy sa order”. His tone was insinuating it’s my fault. No apologies whatsoever. But hey, you still got it wrong — one still says spicy in my receipt. I wanted to tell him that but he was so avoidant and walked away from me. I also asked the cashier why she did not indicate I wanted spicy steamed rice but she did not even bother answering me.
It would have been fine if they got my order wrong. I am always considerate with service crews/waiters/Grab drivers/etc. But the way they avoided me and tried to point fingers really got...
