worth it ✨️
my family has a weekly family day where we eat out for dinner together and since we have tried almost every restaurant in sm seaside, we'd decided to give YAYOI a try and we were not disappointed.
our first time there, we were overwhelmed with the portions and there were five (5) of us. we have been so used to smaller portions in other (japanese) restaurants that we went overboard with ordering dishes. their california maki's portion 🤌🏻 sublime. i could have just two (2) orders and be full. trust me, it is pricey but for people who eat out once a week for family gatherings, it was worth it for us.
you can see in one of the videos i have attached that i had ordered the tonkatsu with the extra ramen noodles. it was so overwhelming. you get the ramen noodles with the tonkatsu for an additional 90php only !! if you're big on food or eat well, their portions are for you. your money is worth spending here.
i have to give it a special mention: their kani salad is the best one i have had so far—looks and tastes appetizing. just it together with the california maki is mouth-watering.
we went back the second time a few weeks ago and i was a bit skeptical because what if that great experience was a lucky first time thing? it wasn't. the food was excellent, the waiting time is not long, and the service is great; the staff are so polite, knowledgeable of their menu, and are not afraid of approaching customers.
eating there on weekends, especially sundays, i usually do not recommend because at restaurant hours like dinner, it can get a bit cramped and overwhelming for the staff but YAYOI has been doing great so far.
am looking forward to going back 🤸🏻♀️ there's so much of the menu we have not tried yet.
note: you can spend 200-400 php for each person and be full, that's how much food i take at YAYOI but i have checked 400-600 php just to be sure because i know that during the right day, i can...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant around 5 pm on a Tuesday, and I have mixed feelings about the experience, which leads me to a 3-star rating.
First off, the timing was in our favor as the restaurant wasn't busy at that hour. This translated into excellent accommodation due to the low number of customers, making the evening enjoyable. A notable feature that caught my attention was the tablet-based ordering system. It's a favorite of mine because it minimizes the need for interaction with the restaurant staff, a welcome touch for those who prefer a more automated dining experience.
Now, let's delve into the main event – the food. While the dishes we ordered were generally good, the price point was quite high. We sampled the Spicy Salmon Roll, Ebi Tempura, Salmon Crunch Roll, and Yakiniku Roll. Unfortunately, the Spicy Salmon Roll didn't quite live up to its cost; it was merely okay and didn't stand out. On the other hand, the Yakiniku Roll and Salmon Crunch Roll truly shone and were worth the premium price. They both offered exceptional taste that justified the expense. My personal favorite was the Salmon Crunch Roll, though I must admit, it can be a bit challenging to eat due to the generous amount of toppings.
In conclusion, I would give this restaurant a 3-star rating. It's an average establishment with some standout dishes, but the overall experience aligns with what you'd expect at this...
Read moreTheir order system is unique. You look at the physical menu then put your order in through the tab that’s assigned to your table. Menu items will vary though. The ones listed in the tab are the only ones available so use the physical menu for an idea on what the food looks like instead.
Serving sizes are worth the price. They say the samples they have displayed at the entrance is the exact same size as the actual food and they weren’t exaggerating. Generous portions for the teishoku sets.
Food is great. From the ones we ordered, there wasn’t a single dish that we disliked. I personally really loved their tamagoyaki. It was really soft, fluffy and creamy. Chicken nanban is a must-try. Had the kori matcha too and for me, it’s one of the best Matchas I’ve tried in Cebu.
But what I really loved about Yayoi is their service. Their crew was super attentive and fast. They keep a keen eye out and anticipate their diners’ needs even before they call their attention.
At first I thought Yayoi was on the pricier side but the portion, the flavors and most of all, the service makes it worth every peso.
Will definitely come back to try other selections in their menu 😊
Oh and they also allow pets as long as they’re in a covered...
