We booked breakfast through our hotel Dusit Thani Residence Davao at Madayaw Café, conveniently located beside the communal pool on the hotel ground floor – a rather pleasant setting to start the day. The food selection was serviceable, but my wife raised an eyebrow (and a well-placed complaint) about the staff’s handling of it. They wore plastic gloves, which is all well and good, except gloves are not magic shields of cleanliness. Watching someone rearrange trays, wipe surfaces, and then proceed to serve food with the same gloves was… let us say, a confidence-sapping performance. A touch of training would not go amiss here. A couple of hours later, my stomach decided to host its own protest march – not the kind of local experience I was hoping for. By the next morning, I played it safe with just bananas and coffee. In hindsight? I would have been happier with a cheeky stop at the local Jollibee. At least there you know exactly what you are in for – and it’s served with a smile and presumably cleaner hands.

Here for a birthday dinner. Food is buffet style. Presentation of the food was very nice. So ok how was the food... Well.. not great. Over salty was the first impression.. and the chicken was dry. Pastries were good and so was the sushi. Even so the food was overall not great and there is no excuse in a place that looks this good and presents so well all the food should be fantastic and it wasn't. Service was good and the restrooms were clean. Inside the hotel restaurant area was very nice to look at but the location for the hotel restaurant is not so nice, looking over a building site one side and an oil storage facility the other... But inside is like a haven. Over all... Ok.. would I pay to go again.. no. .sorry.. far from the standard say of the now closed cafe Marco... Was hoping it was a new version.. and it wasn't.. sorry Note: price was P1200 per person. And the staff were very nice and accompanying.

Buffet with well cooked food. Selections were delicious and the staff were caring and attentive helping me with serving and explaining dishes. Buffets could get ovewhelming but this was a good well scoped buffet. Shout out to the noodle bar people (Mika and crew) who were super attentive and went above and beyond to get guests delicious soups. The only thing was the atmosphere They had a dj setup when I came in at 6:30pm and they were playing club music 😂 very loudly so it was also hard to talk and enjoy the meal. maybe its a local preference but I did not enjoy the noise at all.
