West Empire Chinese Restaurant and Seafood Garden — Restaurant in Davao City

The most authentic thing about this Restaurant was it's decor. And the staff were very attentive. I love authentic Chinese food and have eaten in China, Hong Kong and other countries. I was unable to consume their shark fin and crab soup it was disgusting amd never seen a brown soup its always milky clear. Their sweet and sour pork all i could taste was the sweetness and curry powder. Their beef to tender it, it was soaked in baking powder too long and had that distinctive baking powder taste. I tried to explain to the manager and was told they have never had complaints from there chinese customers lol. This place was obviously a big Restaurant long ago as there is a whole floor downstairs which is now closed off and now there is a smaller restaurant upstairs. I am a widower my first wife was 100 percent Cantonese and I love cooking so was shown the correct way to cook Chinese food and this was nothing like Chinese food. I would not recommend...

They say that when you choose a Chinese Restaurant you should try and go somewhere where the local people of Chinese descent eat, if this is true then this place will suit your purpose. But I can take it one step further, on the couple of occasions I have eaten here I have noticed people from the more prominent Chinese families in Davao patronising the place. So this really says it all, if you like high quality well prepared Chinese food then give this place a try. Seafood is their speciality.

There is plenty of parking just outside with security guards in attendance.

The downside? : Well it may not be the cheapest Chinese restaurant in Davao City but that said the prices are not excessive, and you will not have come here because of price. Some authentic Chinese dishes are not to the taste of people from other nationalities but there is an extensive menu so the chances are you will find something...

For us a NoGo: They serve Shark Fin products! Shark fin is "made" mainly by this: Fisherman catch whole sharks, just cut the fins from the shark still alive, and throw the shark back to the ocean...still alive. He will drown in the ocean, only for 3 fins... Horible! Humans are always cruel to the nature, but this is a special sin against every god who will judge us... But beside of this: The environment ist more feeling like a waiting hall in a bus station or airport. Thats make it also very loud. Not nice to have a dinner there. And the food is... more average. Only for the food we decided not to go there another time... And even if the food would be delicious: We could not support someone serving a Sin. If you want to go there: It is not at the door looking like an entrace. You need to pass by and go to the steps leading you to the 2nd floor (1st floor if you count it in...
