Pidoks Restaurant Matina Branch — Restaurant in Davao City

Considering the quality of service, this restaurant is definitely overpriced and overrated. They charge a compulsory 'service fee' although the service felt mediocre and indifferent. More than 1000 pesos including service fee for crispy pork knuckles and a very small bowl of rice. This is not a fancy restaurant, the low income workers only make approximately 4000 monthly in Davao, think how overpriced it is. Seriously, their bowl of rice is the smallest that I ever saw in the Philippines! Food quality is ok but again, I was shocked by how small the rice bowl was! Wanted to experience again the cluttering sound of the bamboo (nothing fancy, just hammering the bamboo with spoon 😂) while the delicious bamboo rice was being served so we went once again to Pidoks.

We had the whole place almost to ourselves when we arrived that day, until a few more customers came in when we were halfway thru our lunch.

It was a bummer that the durian shake wasnt available, it was one of my favorites on their menu.

Pidoks Matina is conveniently located along McArthur Highway, just beside Davao City Water District. They have ample parking and is very spacious inside. We ordered the paco (baby fern) salad, green mango with bagoong, and crispy pata. The paco salad was well seasoned and had salted egg which made it more delightful. The green mango was surprisingly not too sour and paired well with the sweet bagoong. Crispy pata was definitely a winner but was a little too pricey for me.
