Señor Juan offers a delightful range of dishes, each crafted with care and bursting with flavor. However, my recent experience with their steak was less than stellar. The steak was cooked unevenly, with the center being medium-rare while the ends were overdone and chewy. This inconsistency made for an unenjoyable texture. The seasoning was another letdown; it lacked the depth and richness one expects from a good steak. It was evident that the steak had not been basted with butter, missing out on that luscious, melt-in-your-mouth quality. The overall flavor was disappointingly bland, reminiscent of a dry, grilled pork chop with a mere sprinkle of salt—hardly the indulgent experience one anticipates from a steak. Considering its price point, the steak at Señor Juan is not worth the splurge. If you plan to visit, I recommend skipping the steak and exploring other options on their menu instead. Update: We had a birthday lunch last week at Señor Juan since it was my mom’s birthday. After my previous review, I was pleasantly surprised by the response from Señor Juan. The owner reached out and generously offered to replace the steak for free. This weekend, my family and I returned to give it another try, and I’m happy to report that the experience was much improved. The replacement steak was a significant step up. It was cooked more evenly throughout, with a consistent medium-rare doneness, and had a much better texture—tender and flavorful. It felt like a completely different steak from a different restaurant compared to my previous experience. The owner’s commitment to making things right and ensuring a better dining experience really stood out. It’s rare to see such dedication and proactive customer service. Kudos to Señor Juan for turning things around! I can recommend Señor Juan’s dishes; they have a good lineup on the menu and are committed to delivering quality and addressing any issues. Also, thank you for the first complimentary birthday cake and the additional one given when we went back. Hopefully, they will start accepting credit cards soon, which would make the overall experience even better! Thank you, Señor Juan, for taking the feedback to heart and improving the experience!

Came here for dinner because my girlfriend and I didn't want to go far from the hotel we stayed in that shares the same business building. We came here around 19:30 on a Friday night, which it was busy and a little wait. We were able to see a menu while we waited and actually placed our order to make our wait for food shorter. We ordered the Beef Shank Pasta, and Paco con Pomelo Salad. The pasta was big enough the share, although I didn't want to because it was so good. The atmosphere is small but cozy. The staff is friendly. Even though we just walked here, parking can be difficult since the small free parking lot is shared between the other businesses. I would definitely eat here again if visiting Dumaguete.

Señor Juan offers a charmingly intimate dining experience in a semi-formal setting. The elegant table presentation sets the stage for dishes like their steak and pasta. I enjoyed the Truffle Prosciutto Pasta and Sangria Rosa. I found the pasta delicious and wonderfully creamy, with a distinct truffle flavor that truly stood out. While it's not a dish I'd crave daily, its decadent nature makes it a lovely choice for a special occasion or when you're looking for something a little more indulgent. I also had a bit of their Baked Salmon which I look forward to having one for myself next time! I recommend this place for special occasions with your family, date, and friends.
