The service is not good. We ordered some food and the garlic butter toast thing but when the staff came back to us, she said the white bread is not available. Then we decide to change it to a different dish, which is the condensed milk toast. Then we called the staff again, which we think it is the manager or tl because she wears something different from the others. She approached us and we told her to change the garlic toast to condensed toast. We asked her multiple times if the condensed toast is available and she assured us it is available. She went back to the store counter and we thought everything was okay. The food we ordered first came out. Then minutes later, the condensed toast is still nowhere to be found. We waited because we thought it was gonna take a while because it is a follow up order. We updated the staff if the toast is available, she said to be followed up. Then some minutes passed, the toast was still not served to us. We decided to call the staff again. And when she goes to the counter, we hear there's no condensed toast to our order. We think that the manager or the TL didn't or forgot to add the toast. They are picking points to each other who are gonna tell us the situation. We call the manager/tl who took the last order. Well well.. she said to us that the condensed toast is not available too. We've been waiting but no one approaches us that the toast is not available. She points out that her staff forgot to tell us soon. They are chatting and walking around but no one told us it is not available. And we are the only ones left eating...
Read moreWent here on a sunday and surprisingly there were only few people inside.
We orderd the fried curry chicken meal with old town white coffee for an additional 99, maling, shrimp and vegetable lumpia. It took sometime for our orders to be delivered given that few people are eating meals since most ordered coffee and snacks.
I don't know if this is new place since the staff seems new as they couldn't properly repeat our orders which wasnt a big deal.
The food arrived in a very unique plate! There were a lot in that plate, the chicken was crunchy and you can taste the curry in its skin, the sambal wasn't spicy I couldn't taste it actually. The peanuts were just for texture, dilis was ok. Thank goodness there were cucumber slices on plate because everything was just nakakaumay. I wanted to ask for vinegar sauce which I think is a must for their food but couldn't catch a waiter.
The maling was normal, the sambal shrimp was good! This was the sambal we were looking for! It has spice and very flavorful. The vegetable lumpia was a big disappointment! One bite and we never touched it again it was super oily the vegetables were minced thoroughly you wouldn't know whats in it but that wasn't the problem, it was the oiliness I tasted more oil than vegetable.
The coffee was great! It was really strong for me and kept me awake without that groggy feeling after. Overall its an ok place the price...
Read moreNew restaurant that opened at the Ayala Circuit Mall. Had fond memories of Old Town's White Coffee in my visits to MY. In fact, to relive those, I would constantly buy their 3-in-1 White Coffee or Hazelnut flavored Coffee from groceries.
Now, they have an actual restaurant here.
We ordered their Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang (₱299), their Asam Laksa (₱299), Kaya and Butter Toast (₱99), White Coffee (regular, ₱129) and White Coffee - Hazelnut (upsize, ₱169).
The Nasi Lemak packed some heat but all the ingredients put together made an outstanding ensemble. The Rendang Chicken when taken with some sambal sauce on rice accompanied by some peanuts, crispy dilis, a slice of egg and cucumber tastes divine. I was not so impressed with the Asam Laksa, should have opted for the Prawn or Curry.
We were given toasts that stood a bit of time outside. In short, they were not fresh and a far cry from the toasts I had in my recent SG visit. The White Coffee is not how I remember my last Old Town restaurant visit. It tastes more like the 3-in-1 version. My recollection of my restaurant visit in Malaysia was that of a thicker, creamier coffee that I absolutely fell in love with. Oh well, probably they had to revise a few and roll with the times. But, I miss that first impressive taste...
