EAT WITH CAUTION: Hidden Vietnam SHOULD STAY HIDDEN!

I am beyond disappointed with this place. We came hoping to find a reliable Vietnamese spot nearby, but after two visits, it's clear we won’t be returning. The food was mediocre, especially after just returning from Hanoi. We tried Beef Pho, Spring Rolls, Fruit Juice, and Bahn Mi on our first visit (Nov. 20), and while it was fine, it didn’t live up to expectations. On top of that, a 10% service charge was added without warning. We were caught off guard, as the menu didn't mention it, and it felt out of place for such a small, casual spot. I understand the Vietnamese aesthetic, but I’ve never seen a service charge like this in Vietnam.

The place was understaffed, which led to delays and multiple follow-ups for extra vegetables and soup (P50). I don’t mind paying a service charge if the service and food justify it, but this wasn’t the case.

We gave them another chance on Nov. 23, but things only got worse. I paid via GCash, but the staff insisted the payment hadn’t gone through and asked for cash. They even took my ID as collateral until the payment showed up on their end. I showed proof of payment, but they still blamed me for an issue with GCash. I was made to feel like I was at fault, which was completely unprofessional. This is the first time I’ve ever had an establishment take my ID over a payment issue.

I finally got my ID back after following up on Nov. 24. While I don’t mind paying for my meal or a service charge, the way the staff and management handled this situation was completely unacceptable. I won’t be coming back and will take my business elsewhere.

BEWARE: The only hidden in this place is the bad service and...

Wow, allow me to elaborate on a truly delightful discovery! Nestled away, almost like a well-kept secret, lies a remarkable restaurant that has undeniably earned its place on my list of must-visit establishments. The experience was simply breathtaking. What makes this gem so exceptional is the harmonious blend of affordability and exquisite taste, a combination that so often feels elusive.

Their culinary focus is on the vibrant and aromatic world of Vietnamese cuisine, and let me tell you, they elevate it to an entirely new level. Each dish was a symphony of flavors, expertly crafted and leaving a lasting impression.

Adding an extra layer of sweetness to an already wonderful experience, especially poignant as it was Mother's Day, the restaurant thoughtfully presented us with complimentary desserts. These weren't just any afterthoughts; they were generous portions featuring the luscious sweetness of ripe mangoes, a perfect and refreshing conclusion to our meal. The thoughtfulness of this gesture truly amplified the warmth and hospitality of the establishment.

Now, you might be wondering where this haven of delectable and budget-friendly Vietnamese fare, a place that undoubtedly deserves a spot on everyone's "must-visit" list, can be found.

I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out this hidden treasure for yourself to experience the culinary...

Food is okay. No qualms about it. But overall, we had a bad experience.

First, we had to wait for close to an hour for our food to be served.

Second, when we were settling our bill, the cashier refused to honor the Food Panda 25% voucher we presented saying, "nung pandemic pa po yan valid." Though it was still in Food Panda app.

Third, when we feedbacked her the long wait in serving the food, she told me that the problem is with the management for not providing enough manpower despite the need. She further added "ilang beses na po namin sinabi yan sa may ari." Inasmuch as I would want to emphatize with her, these things shouldnt be even discussed with a customer.

Hope management can see these as an opportunity to improve overall dining experience.

P.S. By the way, an official receipt werent provided only...

2022/01/07: We ordered fresh spring rolls and beef pho this time. As usual, the peanut sauce is my favorite. The beef pho broth was very fragrant. I also like the sauces for the pho. I still prefer ramen over pho whenever it's cold. 2021/12/31: We ordered the Saigon Family Bundle for New Year's Eve. The fresh spring roll was okay. The fried spring roll was about 90% vermicelli (?). There's nothing special with the breaded tofu but the sesame sauce was nice. The chicken wings were a bit hard, perhaps overcooked, but tasted great with the tamarind sauce. The sauces were great but the peanut sauce really stood out. The stir fry noodle (not in picture) was my favorite and the reason for the 4th star. *Saigon Family Bundle promo picture from Hidden Vietnam Marikina's FB page
