Wok of Taiwan Lilac (take out; weâre a block away on Lilac Street)
Special Taiwanese Fried Rice - so-so, nothing fantastic.
Seafood Fry Noodles - dry, with some slices of squid; couldnât find other seafood
Salt and Pepper Squid - tasty but no longer crunchy (more batter than squid)
Steamed Lapu Lapu in Soy Sauce - the fish was cold and tough, not tender at all (was it cooked frozen, or not freshly steamed)? Very disappointing.
Hot Shrimp Salad - tasty shrimp but so tiny that they were overpowered by the salad (more salad than shrimp)
Lo Han Chai - scanty ingredients, hardy a Buddhaâs delight- only shiitake mushrooms, tengang daga (wood ear), fungi and Tokwa with NO fatt Choy (black moss), bean curd sheets, lily buds, bamboo shoots, tang Hoon (mung bean vermicelli), fermented bean curd, and other veggies.
Beef Tendon with Leeks - not much tendon here; there was more meat than tendon (disappointing because I wanted tendon).
Free Special Tikoy - ube; havenât tried it yet (will fry in egg later)
PS probably had a lot of MSG; having the Chinese restaurant headache.
Verdict: donât think we will be back...
Read moreFantastic service. The owners were very courteous and attended to all our needs and requests, even going so far as to give us complimentary tea.
The food was excellent. The flavors were authentically Taiwanese with just the right amount of Filipino influence. The best part was that none of it was too salty or strongly flavored, even the dishes that one would expect to be too flavorful on their own - good news if you want to skimp on rice to try as many different ulam as you can.
Plus points for offering card payments and takeaway containers at no additional cost. My only comment is that I wish the aircon ran a little cooler; food this good can make you work up a sweat. Will...
Read moreDefinitely a must try in Marikina! If youâre searching for a great Taiwanese cuisine, this is the place to visit. The dimsums are incredibly delicious and the prices are reasonable. I inquired with the waitress about their most popular noodles and she suggested the seafood fried noodles, which turned out to be exceptional! đâď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ We were also pleasantly surprised when they gave us a complimentary box of tikoy during our visit (although it may depend on your total consumption). I assume it's because of the upcoming Chinese New Yearđâ¤ď¸ Without a doubt, we will be returning and will bring our family along to try the food since my sister and I truly relished our...
