My family had been to RJ's Buffet several times before, but on New Year, we went there with a side goal of putting up a review.
Pros: Festive and eye-catching holiday decorations. In front of RJ Buffet's entrance is the amazing manger Christmas night themed set up with. On the other side by the Villa Caceres Hotel entrance was an even more extravagant crystal ice themed decors from the ceiling to the floor. I was intentionally checking the food, and I would have to say that most of them are tasty and delicious. Viands are offering distinct tastes. Stand out for me are the steamed fish, kare kare, yang chow fried rice, gambas al jillo, Chinese adobo, caldereta, maki, and the soup. Big seating area that can be expanded further if these are more guests. Loved the steak. The 1st one was really good. The 2nd one is so tough I had to spit it out while the 3rd is ok but not as good as the 1st. It's a hit or miss.
Cons: One weakness with regards to food is the pastries. That's one sad display of ordinary looking bread like pandesal, sliced bread, and pande coco. Paying P949, I expected something more elevated than that. The salad bar is another area that needs improvement. Not appetizing at all didn't bother tasting. Maybe I'm just used to the likes of Vikings or Dad's where they continuously get your used plates. Here at RJs, I have to constantly advise the wait staff to remove the plates or cups or glasses. I have stacked them already on the accessible side of the table, but they just ignore it until I get their attention.
Tips: They individually compute the discounts for senior and pwd with...
Read morePersonally I am satisfied with the services afforded by Villa Caceres Hotel staff. I have encountered one incident I cannot help myself from not voicing out what I have witnessed. My grandson and I happened to have breakfast at a table next to a woman I hardly know. By my own quiet assessment she is not a bicolana as she speaks Tagalog as I heard her talk to one of the RJ receptionists. She was asking for one piece of pandesal for her a yr or two yr old son. The receptionist refused. The woman was trying to persuade the staff but was refused. She was in tears and I was truly distracted and found myself empathizing. The grannies came to the rescue and said they are willing to pay for the bread costing P150 for one piece of pandesal. She commented she was willing to pay may it cost P1000 just for her grandson. It was a bad and sad moment for me, much more to these guests who are not bicolanos. Protocols or rules can be overriden by a rare situation like this. For the sake of humanity and hospitality one pandesal won't hurt the income of RJ Buffet I should think. I wish I could step in to comfort the mother but decided to stat out of it. Not my business. I wrote this in order to open this issue to the concerned staff and management. Apuera de los buenos. Thank you. My family and I will still keep going back to Vlla Caceres as we are pleased with the excellent staff, management and...
