That time we were there, three tables were occupied by people we knew. Seems everyone was trying out Reef Cafe and with good reason. First, the decor and ambience. Really cozy interiors with subdued lighting and soft music make for good conversations. Service was quick & friendly but with a sense of urgency. The only time service slowed down was when a group of people arrived and occupied three other tables, plus the outdoor seating. Waitstaff apologized profusely and everything was fine. Cerveza Negra was served really cold, and the bottle was clean. Lastly, the food. Ordered calamares for appetizers and it was done perfectly (sorry, wasn't able to take pictures. It was finished quickly). Squid was tender, not chewy, and the crusty breading was crisp and tasted clean. No used oil taste. As it was Friday, we limited ourselves to seafood. Good thing the Seafood Pizza was great. 14 inches of homemade dough cooked in a brick oven topped with tangy tomato sauce, juicy shrimp, more squid and I'm guessing chunks of fish (tuna? Salmon?) Wasn't sure but it was done to perfection. Check the pics. All in all, another fine addition to PPCs growing number of cosmopolitan restaurants offering something different to both locals and tourists alike. Good for families. A bit pricey by Puerto standards but servings were big enough to...
Read moreWe went here twice, because we stayed at the Reef Hostel (once for breakfast and once for dinner). When we came for breakfast we were early. It is supposed to be open at 7, but I had to ask if the cafe would open or not. When de guy opened the place we asked him if it was a possible to have breakfast before 7.30, because then would be our pickup for a tour. No problem he said, so we ordered food. After 25 minutes there still was no sign of food coming so we asked him if the food was almost ready. He wasn’t bothered at all but because I asked him to check in the kitchen, he then went into the kitchen to ask and told us 10 more minutes. Which was a bit frustrating because he promised us it would be there in time. Our tourguide arrived at 7.30 and after three times of having to ask the waiter the food came at 7.45 (45 minutes later for just an omelette!!) we got a doggybag so we had to eat it in the car. Very disappointing.. because after the tour we were tired and didn’t want to go far for dinner we went there again. The service was still very slow and the place was packed with loud people. The food both times was really good, so that made our experience worth 3 stars. We recommend the French toast...
