Tonight was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in King Chef. It honestly makes me sad, my famoly and I used to come here a lot back when I was still in highschool.
Let me start in the beginning, we walk toward sthe table cleanes for us and I pull my chair back. That's when I saw the filthy state they were in. We had to wipe the spilled sauce and stray grains of rice off ourselves. Cleanliness is often the first thing I look for when coming to restaurants. The seats almost made me want to just outright leave, but I decided against it. King Chef held a special place in my heart after all.
However, the night just kept on getting worse. We planned on ordering ala carte, it was still 8:20 pm, 10 minutes before the dimsum promo, but when it came to ordering, the waiter attending to us informed us that they were no longer serving ala carte. At first we thought that it was fair since it was pretty close to the promo hour; however, we were taken aback when plates of yangchow rice, sweet and sour pork, noodles, and etc. were being served. Naturally, we asked why, but the waiter told us that it was an order put in before the promo hour. We thought it was ok even if we did the exact same thing at 8:20 and decided to let it go. What pissed me off was that the table directly behind me, who just arrived, was served ala carte meals at around 9 pm! We asked again and a waiter replied to us saying that the chefs were already tired. I find this behavior extremely unprofessional.
If you're establishment plans to operate until 10 pm then male sure that you're staff is ready to work til 10 pm.
Anyways that wasn't the only thing that ticked us off. The service was atrocious. For a restaurant in the Philippines boasting chinese quisine, the rice came terribly late. Most of the dimsum we've ordered already came before the rice. What made me even more furious was the fact that the ala carte orders (around 3 bowls of yang chow fried rice) came first! We absolutely felt terrible due to the clear difference in the service provided between tables. We had to follow up our measely 4 orders of plain rice several times. We just couldn't understand how they could put out several bows of yang chow fried rice and not serve us just plain rice at that time.
I'm just beyond disappointed at this restaurant. I hope you get things in order because I made so much good memories in this...
Read morePosted during Father's Day 2022 where I gave 1 star rating: Never celebrate here on special occasions like Father's Day! The management did not anticipate the volume of orders from deliveries and closed down their doors to walk-in customers. We arrived at 11am on Father's Day, as several other families, but they refused to accept customers, as they do not have enough manpower to serve online orders. Other than this shortcoming, they serve reasonably priced best tasting lugaw, Dimsums, mami, toppings, etc. Posted July 2022 where I changed rating to 3 stars: Got a response from the resto that they are investigating what happened and maybe they will add additional staff for special days next time. I edited from one star to 3 stars since they responded.
I appreciate that they want to apologize, but I am flexible, and went to Aristocrat located downstairs immediately. So, no problem with me. But the other families that were turned down who have made family reunions and still waiting for the rest of the family, had big problems with this closure. The parking was swamped during that day, and all the guests who planned to celebrate Father's Day in King Chef were in chaos, while the resto is empty and trying to serve Grab/Food...
Read moreIf you love dimsum then you should definitely try this resto. We loke the food here. Be warned this is a very popular place so expect to wait a few minutes during peak hours and off peak hours. I am not sure if they even have an off peak because they have discounted prices on some items during off peak hours which attract a lot of customers too myself included. They are well staffed but they do need to serve a lot of people so expect your orders to have some delays. While waiting to be seated, you are given a paper containing the menu so you can tick your order while waiting. Once you are seated they will get your paper and punch the order in their POS machine. I suggest you check your orders from the paper they return to your table to make sure all your orders were punched in. We had some instances where they were not able to see all our orders so we ended up expecting for more orders to arrive only to find out they didn't see everything we ticked. When using the elevator, press...
