This Korean BBQ joint is a go-to for that unli-samgyupsal vibe, but it’s got some hiccups that keep it from hitting that five-star mark. Let’s break it down, picturing you and your crew firing up the grill in San Fernando, La Union, ready to feast.First off, the good stuff: that beef you mentioned? Sounds like it’s bringing the flavor! I’m imagining those thin, marinated slices sizzling on the grill maybe their Yangnyum Beef or Bulgogi, sweet and savory with that perfect char. You said it’s flavorful, so it’s probably one of their standout cuts, like the Woo Samgyup or Spicy Beef, that makes you keep reaching for more. The soup probably their sundubu jjigae (spicy tofu stew) or gochujang jjigae must be hitting all the right spots with that warm, comforting kick. And the egg? You called it the best, so I’m picturing that fluffy, steaming Korean egg dish, maybe their signature steamed egg, all soft and custardy, perfect for scooping up with a lettuce wrap or just digging into straight. Those are the moments that make you glad you stopped by, right? But here’s where it stumbles: the out-of-stock situation is a total buzzkill. Nothing’s worse than getting hyped for a Korean BBQ feast and hearing, “Sorry, we’re out of that.” No cheese dip? Ouch that’s a big miss for a place known for its gooey, melty cheese fondue that you’re supposed to dunk your grilled meat into. And when you say “many of their food” is out of stock, I’m guessing some key sides or meats (like the japchae or certain pork cuts) were MIA, which can make the unli deal feel less “unli.” It’s like showing up to a party and finding out half the snacks are gone still fun, but not quite the vibe you were hoping for.The setup at Samgyupsalamat La Union is probably like their other branches: cozy, a bit loud with the sizzle of grills and chatter, and packed with folks ready to wrap their meat in lettuce and dive in. Reviews of other locations mention attentive staff who keep the sides and meat coming (when they’re not out of stock, that is), and I bet the La Union crew’s trying their best to keep the energy up. But when stuff’s missing, it can feel like the kitchen’s dropping the ball. For the price it’s a solid deal, especially with unlimited sides like kimchi, pickled radish, and that egg. But running out of staples like cheese is a rookie move for a chain this big.Overall, Samgyupsalamat La Union’s got the makings of a dope Korean BBQ spot with that flavorful beef, killer egg, and tasty soup stealing the show. The staff are probably hustling to keep up, and the vibe’s fun for a group hangout. But the out-of-stock drama, especially the cheese, knocks it down a peg. Four stars feels right super solid, but they gotta keep the pantry stocked to hit that next level. Next time you’re there, maybe double-check they’ve got the cheese before you sit down, and you’re set...
Read moreThey didn’t have pork when we went in for dinner which was okay since they informed us before we went in but how can the beef be so tough. The only good thing was the bulgogi and cheese. The worst out of the whole thing was the service. At the start there’s only one guy serving and I saw 6 of them either on break or didn’t start yet. When all of them came to the floor, still they didn’t pay much attention to the customers they’re just gossiping. One guy only came once to our table to ask if we needed anything else and the rest we had to call for help for our refills. I hope they focus on service which can create a better experience...
Read moreFood: Beef 3/5, Pork 4/5 Overall it's good. The beef slice is a little bit thick. Service: Lunch time so it's a little bit busy, but they are attentive to our needs. Atmosphere: Nothing to talk about.
Just a little bit of concern: The skillet (grill) is a little bit dirty, when it's heated some bubbles and dirt arises. Same with our next skillet it's still have...
