Food was wonderful. We'd definitely go back and bring our families. We ordered Country Breakfast, Garden Salad, Shepherd's Pie, Classic Chicken, houseblend coffee and hot cocoa. Country Breakfast: pancakes are light and fluffy. Bacon is crispy. Sausage is seasoned with herbs but becomes too salty when it gets cold. Garden Salad: the usual greens but the added melon was great and the mango vinaigrette brought the dish together. Classic Chicken: perfect. Serving is for 2 quarters (leg quarter and breast-wing quarter). No rice included here so order one if you want. Shepherd's Pie. Delicious but I think overpriced. I expected more ground meat for the price. But taste wise👍👍 Houseblend Coffee: really strong! I wonder how anyone could ask for refills. It's also served in a mug so that x2 of the usual cup. Hot Cocoa: leans on the bittersweet choco taste which is good. 👎only bad thing is it wasn't served piping hot. It was so lukewarm that it quickly went cold. Service: expect a wait to be seated if you're dining in during breakfast time. We got in at 1030 and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. But by 12 when we left, there were lots of vacant tables and arriving guests had the option to choose their tables. Waiters were not as attentive but if you call them, they respond immediately. Ambiance: it feels like a quaint cozy house that works really well as a restaurant. It doesn't feel cramped and you can carry conversations without getting distracted by other guests. This branch has an awesome view of the Taal Volcano. Parking can be challenging if you go during peak hours. Overall, it's a good place and great value for your money. Portions are generous and even if they say it's for one person, it's really good for two. At the end of our visit, we bought some items from their shop to take home. Tip: there's a restroom near the kitchen which is on the opposite side of the shop. Practically no one uses it (guessing that area is the last filled with guests) so there's no queue to use it. The other restrooms near the shop area has long queues.

**A Delightful Culinary Experience at Charito by Bag of Beans** Charito by Bag of Beans in Tagaytay is a gem that offers a truly delightful dining experience. Perched in a prime location, this charming restaurant provides a perfect combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a stunning view that makes every visit memorable. The moment you step into Charito, you are welcomed by its cozy and elegant ambiance. The interior is beautifully designed with a mix of classic and modern touches, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. But the real showstopper is the breathtaking view of Taal Volcano and the surrounding lake, which you can enjoy from their outdoor seating area—an ideal spot for a romantic meal or a leisurely brunch with friends. The menu at Charito by Bag of Beans is diverse, offering a wide selection of both local and international dishes. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The Truffle Pasta was rich and indulgent, and the Beef Bourguignon was tender and flavorful, making it clear that the kitchen takes great pride in its offerings. Their signature pastries and desserts are also a must-try, especially the Blueberry Cheesecake, which was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The service at Charito is impeccable. The staff are attentive, friendly, and go out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and offer helpful suggestions based on your preferences. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want to enjoy a relaxing meal with an amazing view, Charito by Bag of Beans is the perfect choice. It’s a place where great food, ambiance, and service come together to create an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tagaytay and look forward to my next visit.

We came for post-lunch coffee and desserts. We had just dined at Balay Dako before coming here. This restaurant is also a good option for dining with a mountaintop view of Taal Volcano. I was let down by the poor service we received during our time here at Bag of Beans. We ordered refillable Houseblend coffee and Kapeng Barako, but we were not able to really maximize the bottomless option. The servers were not as visible during our stay there, and we constantly had to call for one's attention. The servers can also be better trained to roam more frequently and be available for assistance. Another issue and big dissapointment I had was the Cold Brew Lemon & Mint they have in their menu. I don't think I will be alone to assume that this beverage will also be locally brewed and prepared like their coffee, but unfortunately that was not the case. The cold brew order turned out to be just a glass of cold water with a tea bag sachet branded Ahmad Tea London. To top it all off, the cold water mug they served has an ant in it. I had to request for a new mug, but the replacement mug of cold water also took too long to arrive. It was at least good enough that they have a good overlooking view going for them to soften the blow of bad service we experienced during our time.

Charito will always have a special place in our hearts as this is where I propose to my wife. It has arguably the best view of Taal volcano, and the pines scented wind feels homey and relaxing, it will put you to sleepy mood even how strong your coffee (houseblend still the most recommended). Food is a bit pricey but for some you can request to have it split (they have big servings for most dish in entrée). The place is best enjoyed with cake (red velvet or blueberry cheesecake!) while being astonished with the scenery (you'll have direct view and heat of sunrise here though they open at 6:30am while sunset offers sepia themed Taal volcano). Their baby back ribs is a bit dry here when we came (but it's saucy before) compared to their twin lakes branch, but their chicken ala kiev is great. Try their buko pie also for take home ❤️ Update for 10/16/2022 Breakfast platter: 5/5 Their breakfast platter is a great way to start the day, partnered with their houseblend coffee and you're ready to brace the Tagaytay traffic 🥲 It's good for two, unless your really a hearty eater. Pancake is great, the highlight of the platter, and the loaded meat around it elevates your mood (and blood pressure). Best paired with tomato ketchup for me. And enjoy.

We recently had breakfast at Bag of Beans, and while it came highly recommended, I found the experience overhyped and overpriced. I ordered the Country Breakfast (two eggs, two buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and sausage) for PHP 535, a Ripe Mango Fruit Shake for PHP 235, and a Baked Blueberry Cheesecake for PHP 285. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t match the prices. The pancakes tasted like the typical 10-20 peso variety you can buy on the street, the sausage seemed undercooked, and the bacon was a bit tough. The mango shake was disappointing as well—it tasted artificial, more like flavoring than real mango. The blueberry cheesecake was another letdown, as it seemed dry and not fresh, with a hard icing that suggested it was frozen for too long. The only real selling point of this place is the view, which was indeed beautiful. But overall, while the scenery was great, the food just didn’t live up to the hype or the cost. This is just my personal opinion, but I wouldn’t recommend or revisit Bag of Beans based on this experience. That said, feel free to try it for yourself—you may have a different takeaway.

We enjoyed our lunch, the food was great. The roast beef sandwich wasn't dry or over cooked, with home made mustard to add a zing and pop flavor of the fresh veggies used. I think a must try meal. The carbonara was also packed with flavor and made just right. Cheesecake was also delicious, different from traditional blueberry cheesecakes found elsewhere. This is worth the visit when in the area. Servings are on the bigger side, one plate is likely good for two. My only suggestion is to add ceiling fans and or insulate the roof for outdoor dinning. I think our lunch would have been more enjoyable in the comforts of cooler and less broiling feeling temps when under the outdoor roof. It was lunch in late October when reviewing this and sunny. Other than that, the atmosphere and the decor/dinning areas were themed nicely. Another nice touch they added to the ambience and worth mentioning, was the fresh flowers at the tables. They could have used fake flowers but they did not, the little details make this experience that much more memorable.
