Food was wonderful. We'd definitely go back and bring our families.
We ordered Country Breakfast, Garden Salad, Shepherd's Pie, Classic Chicken, houseblend coffee and hot cocoa.
Country Breakfast: pancakes are light and fluffy. Bacon is crispy. Sausage is seasoned with herbs but becomes too salty when it gets cold.
Garden Salad: the usual greens but the added melon was great and the mango vinaigrette brought the dish together.
Classic Chicken: perfect. Serving is for 2 quarters (leg quarter and breast-wing quarter). No rice included here so order one if you want.
Shepherd's Pie. Delicious but I think overpriced. I expected more ground meat for the price. But taste wise👍👍
Houseblend Coffee: really strong! I wonder how anyone could ask for refills. It's also served in a mug so that x2 of the usual cup.
Hot Cocoa: leans on the bittersweet choco taste which is good. 👎only bad thing is it wasn't served piping hot. It was so lukewarm that it quickly went cold.
Service: expect a wait to be seated if you're dining in during breakfast time. We got in at 1030 and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. But by 12 when we left, there were lots of vacant tables and arriving guests had the option to choose their tables. Waiters were not as attentive but if you call them, they respond immediately.
Ambiance: it feels like a quaint cozy house that works really well as a restaurant. It doesn't feel cramped and you can carry conversations without getting distracted by other guests. This branch has an awesome view of the Taal Volcano.
Parking can be challenging if you go during peak hours.
Overall, it's a good place and great value for your money. Portions are generous and even if they say it's for one person, it's really good for two. At the end of our visit, we bought some items from their shop to take home.
Tip: there's a restroom near the kitchen which is on the opposite side of the shop. Practically no one uses it (guessing that area is the last filled with guests) so there's no queue to use it. The other restrooms near the shop area has...

Read moreWent here because Balay Dako was closed. Thank god we did. Me and my family got seafood pasta, the grilled chicken, longganisa, chicken and mushroom pie, the beef tapa and I had fish and chips, while for drinks some had milkshakes, tea (as in tsaa like camomile) bottled water, fruit shakes, and I had an ice tea.
According to my family members: beef tapa wasn't as good as they thought, it was still finished anyway, seafood pasta was great apparently but ended up being take out, longganisa was good, grilled chicken was enjoyed very much by the youngest in my family (my baby cousin who turns 3 this year), and the drinks were apparently really good too!
To say that the fish and chips are incredible would be down playing it. The chips—fries—were warm, crispy but tender on the inside. The fish was soft and flavorful and the batter was crispy, but the dip was the star of the show. It adds a whole world of flavor and pairs excellently with the fish and chips. I teared up a little as I finished it because it was amazing and I wanted more. The chicken and mushroom pie is something ill definitely order next time because it is SO hearty and feels like home. My ice tea tasted a bit like sago't gulaman and to be honest, I like that. I like that a lot.
That aside, they have such a wide range of teas and the customization on the pastas is really nice too. They even have cakes and pizza! The cakes we never saw while eating but wow the pizzas seemed good. The only complaint I have is medjo mabagal sila sa bill. I don't know what took so long (weekday din so obviously not a lot of customers) but it was a nice break to let the...
