If you want to dine in a picturesque location, Concha's Tagaytay is a nice alternative, they are one of the few restos inside the Cliffside. Before driving in, be sure you are set to dine in the compound. They have a minimum P400 dining receipt for parking validation. The outdoor dining of Concha's is relaxing due to the fine cool weather of Tagaytay. They tried maximizing decors with hanging plants but some details were quite distracting, particularly the cracked plastic basins used as pots and a life-sized standee of Alden Richards, who's one of the owners of this resto. We came for the food and ambiance so the standee seem out of place in a posh location but it might be a nice surprise for his fans.
The food we ordered the first time we came was Laoya. It was superb. This time, we tried their creamy garlic pasta which was really good, the fresh lumpia and sizzling bangus was ok, but the sinampalukang manok was a flop. The chicken meat was overcooked and it's meat was tearing apart BUT the soup temperature was not as hot as we would have wanted. We had to request the serve crew to reheat it for us. The sinampalukan had whole sampaloc garnish, perhaps to indicate they only use fresh instead of tamarind mixes. What's missing though is the young tamarind leaves that adds a nice flavor and presentation to the dish. I hope they seasoned it well too. It was really bland -- weak sour taste, no saltiness at all. Their staff was quick to give us fish sauce though when we asked for it. Their iced tea pitcher was also a tad too sweet. We had to dilute it with some water.
Price point was reasonable for a sit-down lunch meal. Our group of 5 ordered pasta, fresh lumpia, 5 servings of rice, sizzling bangus, sinampalukang manok, and iced tea with total bill of...
Read moreSlow service which resulted in long queue. We waited 2hrs in line plus 30mins before our order was served so it took almost 3hours before we can eat our lunch. :( They should've added more tables especially on a weekend peak hours. Some waiters are not customer friendly. Told us that outside food are not allowed (in an unfriendly way). we bought some tarts at Rowena's (which, btw, we aren't eating or touching at all because we already ate some while waiting in line. (Long wait made us hungry) When we were called and sat at our table, a waiter approached us and assumed that we are eating outside food. (It was just placed on top of our table.) Where should we place it, under the table, which is dirty full of food craps left by other customers who just ate? They don't have insect catchers, flies flying here and there. The most disappointing part is that food isn't great so the long wait isn't worth it. Service water is dirty, had white tiny floating particles in our drinking water which, gave me diarrhea hours after.
Summary: not worth the wait, overall service and food did not justify the price. Not a good dining experience. Won't recommend to anyone unless you're a huge...
Read moreConcha's Garden Cafe serves mainly Filipino dishes with a touch of international cuisines. Concha’s Garden Cafe was the creation of Ms. Gemma Sembrano. Back then, it has always been her dream to start up her own cafe. Growing up with her grandmother (lola in Tagalog), the eponymous Concha (her grandmother’s maiden name) taught her the ways of the kitchen. Eventually, she inherited her grandmother’s passion for cooking and making food. The very first Concha’s Garden Cafe opened just in the year of 2014 and is now a recognizable restaurant in its own right.
This branch has an excellent view. Great staff; They are all very friendly and courteous although we arrived very early in the morning. The food were very delicious and they have broad menu. I recommend you trying this restaurant whenever you visit Tagaytay. It is near the highway so it is very accessible. Tagaytay, along with this restaurant, is just two hours away from...
