One thing: disappointing staff
We gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed they were simply having a bad day, but it turned out that they were just like that.
Visited the place with my boyfriend and I couldn’t remember receiving a greeting but I didn’t mind, thinking that they were simply busy. Sat on a table, studied the menu then I went over to the counter to order. Here’s what I didn’t appreciate. I stated my first order, which was my partner’s drink, and the staff (male) abruptly asked, “Anything else?” as if he was in a hurry and that he wasn’t talking to a customer. He just said it like I was bothering him and wasting his time. I let it slide and stated what else I wanted, waited for him to punch them in, paid for our food, and finally he gave me the receipt along with the change. He didn’t say anything else. He simply placed the money and the receipt in front me like he has someplace else to be—not a “Thank you” or a short reminder to tell me that I should just wait for our order. Nothing.
Mind you, this is a coffee shop. They’re supposed to feel welcoming, to make you feel like having coffee in a nice and peaceful environment is something you’d be excited about—especially with a price range like that for mid food and drinks anyway. This isn’t about being entitled. It’s literally a coffee shop standard to be hospitable to customers and not like they’re a nuisance. It’s about asking for a little decency.
Still, I ignored it and simply thought that, yeah, he must just be having a bad day at work. I should cut him some slack, right? Wrong.
He’s completely different with other customers. There were two or three more customers who came after me and he was a lot nicer and more accommodating—not to mention that their orders were served earlier than ours even when we ordered 2 drinks just like they did. I thought that maybe just took longer to make. It didn’t matter because we wanted to take our time in the café too (I truly hope we didn’t).
The next thing that I noticed that something was definitely wrong was when we left. Not even a “thank you for coming” or an acknowledgment that we were leaving. This wouldn’t have mattered if they let the other customers leave the same way, but they didn’t. We were there for quite some time and I heard them saying, “Thank you for coming” to everyone who left even when they were busy. A couple of staff always noticed when customers walked out the door, and every time they bid their goodbyes. Not to us though.
And I don’t know why we got this unfortunate treatment, but a wild guess? It’s because we’re gay.
My entire life, I didn’t think that I would experience discrimination because of my sexuality in a coffee shop, and to be fair, we’ve been through a lot of shops but this is the only place that we were treated this way. It’s disheartening, truly. We sincerely hope that nobody would experience the same thing from this café, knowing how difficult it still is to be true to yourself nowadays and to simply feel like you fit in.
Do better, Kura Cafe....

The view was pretty nice all things considered and the ambiance inside the shop was pretty aesthetic and chill. We sat outside and can see the greenery of Trece Marteres.
The food we got needs a lot of improvement. Here's what we ordered:
Banana Bread - Lacks any flavor and was dry.
Oreo Cheesecake - The cheesecake had the consistency of an Eden Cheese block and had barely any flavor.
Chicken Pesto - The sauce barely had any flavor to it, the pasta was too dry, and the chicken was overseasoned (meaning super salty).
Fish and Chips - The best thing of all the food that we ordered. While the fish was a bit dry, the batter was super crispy and the dipping sauce was really flavorful.
Iced Barista Blend - Pretty average. It's good enough as a pick me up.
Hot Spanish Latte - It tasted the same as every other spanish latte that we've tried.
While the food and drinks were pretty average, I'd still recommend the place to visit. It was enough for us to satisfy a bit of...

I’ve been here a few times, but my recent visit was disappointing.
We ordered quite a lot, but unfortunately, one of the drinks was incorrect. It was supposed to be a frappe, but we received a non-coffee drink. I specifically mentioned that all drinks should be frappes. I only realized the mistake after receiving the order, so I immediately went to the counter to address it. However, the staff told me they couldn’t replace it because the drink had already been opened and that they had confirmed the order before payment.
As far as I remember, they only repeated the flavor—dark chocolate—but not the type of drink. I assumed they understood that all drinks should be frappes. What disappointed me even more was how the staff spoke to me, like it was my fault.
I’ve been to many local coffee shops in the metro, and I wasn’t expecting Kura to refuse a replacement, even for an incorrect order. From my experience, this isn’t standard practice at most coffee shops. Hope this reaches to the management and...
