Taverna Zante - restauracja grecka — Restaurant in Gdynia

Today, I decided to have my weekly English meetup at Taverna Zante. There were 7 of us. We ordered food and drinks and hung out for a while. Much fun was had by all. The food was ok, though certainly nothing to write home about. This review is about the service. Or lack thereof, in this case.

When it came time to pay, things got weird. First, one person tried to pay a 45zl bill with a 100zl note and was told that they didn't have change. So, she had to come back to the table to see if any of us had change. Luckily, we did. That's silly, but not a deal breaker.

When the rest of us tried to pay, we were told that they could not split the bill up by person so that we could pay individually. Mind you, we had all ordered separate dishes; we weren't asking to split the price of single items. After a short discussion about how that made no sense whatsoever, so we questioned it. That's when the waitress clarified by telling us that she COULD indeed split it up by person, but that she -- and I quote -- "didn't have time for that". Wow.

After employing some dark magic, she did allow us to pay for our own meals using our cards, instead of making us all walk to the nearest ATM to get cash for which they would not have change. However, the damage was done. Needless to say, I will never go back there.

The bottom line: If you're looking for half-way decent Greek food with a side of being intentionally inconvenienced and getting told to your face that you and your friends do not matter for dessert, this is the place for...

Dropped in last night for a drink on the way home and got good vibes. Returned with family tonight for a proper meal and weren't disappointed. The atmosphere was good, the staff were friendly and attentive and spoke English !!! The food was absolutely first class. We had four different mains and everyone was happy. I was more than happy because a starter described as crispy fish turned out to be Whitebate !!!!!! Wonderful, you just never see it in the UK now. We had two starters, four mains, a bottle of wine, two cokes and a martini........ price per person? just over £18. We will certainly go next time we are in Poland and recommend it to you without reservation....

Pierwsza wizyta jakieś 3 lata temu i trzeba przyznać że było naprawdę smacznie, duże dania , dobra jakość produktów cena adekwatna do oferty, miła obsługa, itd.. niestety rok temu bardzo się zawiodłem na tej knajpie. Czemu pisze komentarz dopiero rok później? Długo się zastanawialem czy powinienem, ostatecznie stwierdziłem że opiszę całą sytuację ponieważ myślę że brak reakcji, że coś jest nie tak, jest po prostu wodą na młyn dla ludzi którzy nie szanują swojej pracy tym bardziej że miejsc gdzie klienta traktuje się bardziej jako wroga niż potencjalne źródło zarobku jest niestety coraz więcej 😐 a więc do rzeczy : zamówiłem grilowanego kurczaka z surówka, szybko okazało się że kurczak jest na wpół surowy już tam kij z surówką która byla po prostu bez smaku no cóż zwróciłem uwagę przesympatycznej młodej kelnerce która oczywiście przeprosiła i oddała talerz kucharzowi który na moich oczach zaczął sobie ze mnie kpić i ostentacyjnie próbować tego kurczaka pokazując kelnerce że przecież wszystko jest ok a że jest tam akurat okno przez które widać jak pracuje kuchnia to nie sposób było tego nie zauważyć poza tym kucharz bezczelnie patrzył się na mnie, no cóż po jakiś 5, 10 minutach dostałem swój talerz zpowrotem ze swoją niedojedzoną sałatką i z resztą dopieczonego kurczaka, po prostu szok! Nie wiedziałem czy to się dzieje naprawdę tym bardziej że to nie jakiś bar mleczny a podejrzewam że nawet tam zostałbym potraktowany lepiej, akurat byłem na randce więc nie chciałem wyjsc w oczach dziewczyny na jakiegoś problemowego faceta, więc pożaliłem się trochę przerażonej kelnerce i wyszedłem ale przysięgam że jakbym był tam wtedy sam to rozkręciłbym naprawdę grubą aferę.
