ZERO TOLERANCE TO PLACES LIKE THIS! We arrived in the restaurant and waited for a table, 5 mins and nobody even noticed that. When I asked if we can seat, somebody told us, one moment, fine, just the sour face of the waitress was a bit odd. The table was dirty, new cover but already stained so I asked if that can be replaced and it was... for a worse stainy one. I closed my eyes and that was fine. The music was like played from a boombox located in the kitchen - I appreciated it because of the pseudo Hindu disco like horrible tunes. Another long wait and we had two teas, juices, a flower and a candle, an used, finished one, picture attached, so I was not even bothered to put it on. The food arrived: the soup, murgh nawabi shorba - apparently reheated in a microwave - tasted like something else - clearly not the dish we ordered. Two main dishes : Mutton Karahi and Mutton Vindaloo - both tasted pretty much the same - some spices and a horrible taste of enhancers, probably yeast extracts powder. Naan was not even close to a real naan - definitely not from tandoor. For somebody without a passport or a homeless dog it could be a nice foreign thing, but for me that was to most horrible Indian experience in my life. You can eat much better if you get a Tesco curry tin for 1 quid and stay home. The prices are real killer. The waitress simply abandoned us, so I made my way to the till and ... Oups! The card machine was not working and I was asked to go to a cashmachine, located over 400 yards from that poor place. I should just leave and go home, but could not do that....
Read moreIt's been around since the late 90's, and after so many years, this is still hands down the best place with Indian food in the area (and one of the best I tried in Poland, for that matter). The dishes are delicious, colourful, aromatic and well-seasoned, and always come with a tasty garnish of fresh ginger, nuts or other things I probably can't name. Everything is full of flavour.
In other Indian restaurants in Gdynia you can sometimes order 4 different dishes and everything looks and tastes the same. Here, you really get what you order, and if you order a few different dishes, you'll get to try a few distinct, interesting tastes. If you like authentic Indian food, and not the bland westernised version, this is the place to go to! (I have spent some time in India, so I know what I am talking about!)
The prices are also surprisingly reasonable, and portions are of reasonable size, and very filling. Unfortunately, they don't deliver, but they take takeaway orders on the phone, and it is worth the drive to just pick it up yourself (and actually much faster than most deliveries). The owners and staff are very nice people, always kind.
Apart from the classics like palak paneer, dal makhni, or mutton korma you should definitely try the lasooni gobhi (sweet and sour fried cauliflower), and their amazing mint sauce for poppadoms (no other place I've ever been to does this one better).
Can't recommend...
Read moreI see a lot of different options about this place however we visted this place last weekend and we were all satisfied with the full bellies!! We were waiting for few minutes before the waiters came but it's a normal procedure when there is a busy time and only 2 staff. Lady was very nice and helpful can't say anything bad. We genuinely appreciated the food and will get back there soon. Meals were delicious, well presented, fresh, solid portions, clean, tables with good distance from each other so you can enjoy the food and quality time. I would recommend to everyone that love...
