Żurownia — Restaurant in Katowice

The place is pretty popular, there was a queue for ca. 10 minutes, when we arrived for lunch (when leaving, the queue was longer…). There is no wonder so many people visit this restaurant. Very nice interior, industrial climate fitting to Silesia, fantastic staff taking care for customers (really great to see young people working in very organized way with smile on faces), affordable prices and last but not least real Silesian cuisine. Food is stuffy, so watch out not to order to much. Soups are delicious, try also Braty (fried patatos with Polish becon, champignons, onion and cheese). On August 19th, 2025, I searched for Polish food and this restaurant had the highest ratings. I went with high expectations of having authentic Polish food. I ordered the most expensive main dish on the menu. Once it arrived, I noticed the steam was strange. When I started eating the meat, I had no doubt it was microwaved. Some parts were cold while other patches were too hot, even burning my mouth in that uneven microwave way. Freshly cooked hot food is never like that. The potatoes also didn’t seem to be made from scratch; they looked like they came from a box and were just boiled.

Great little restaurant with amazing old house feel. Narrow hallways and low door frames, but just adds to the charm. Minimalistic decor, which I like. It was rush hour and it was busy on a Thursday night. Even though there was a line it did not take very long to be seated. They seemed overwhelmed with the rush at first, yet they took time to explain the menu. Tourists, dont expect service with a smile, but be sure that you will be treated kindly. Food tasted fresh.
