Aldente — Restaurant in Krakow

So, i've been here several years ago and vowed never to go back. However, after a visit to the local library, hunger struck. There's barely any eateries in this part of town and so thought to give it another try. The place definitely looks better inside, a more modern decor than wwas once before, albeit rather green, but welcoming. The menu held some promise with some burgers, pizzas and other dishes. I chose to go for a burger - Polski burger I think it was called. It said it had hot sauce and mayo (may have been garlic), and came with chips - I decided to hold on the garlic/mayo and keep it spicy. Much to my dismay, despite being presented on a trendy chopping board ala 'slab of wood' - the beef wedge immediately looked over formed (think oversized hockey puck) and the sauce was outside of the burger. However there was plenty of greenery emerging from the burger which added some moisture. I tried the sauce to see if it was worth putting inside the burger - holy hell, it was literally like rocket fuel - I'd say cheap sauce as it was all zing and no flavour. The burger sadly was more akin to eating a cardboard brick - simply because of the beef 'patty' which I am almost certain was deep-fried from frozen. The chips were fine but nothing to shout about. I should stress that the place is more of a bar than a restaurant - you don't get table served and have to go and collect your food from the counter once your heart attack-inducing colour-flashing vibrating thingy lets loose (unless they pinged you by mistake as they did in my case - two heart attacks for me, yipee!) - but this is fine, however what really bugged me was the pricing - 19zl. Given that I can go fairly close to home and have a freshly formed burger for 17zl with a standard relish sauce on the burger, and love every bite, I can't help feel Aldente is missing the mark. I couldn't give a damn for some cooked from frozen chips on the size and below par sauce. My review is aimed to be helpful (to the owners...) I strongly urge that they consider using some fresh beef in burgers - sure, custom might be slow, however getting this right, in an area lacking food establishments will likely get people returning, more frequently, and from farther afield. The place would be excellent (Reasonable service, spacious, tv with sport on for those that need it, kids play area including small slide into a ball pit etc... and music playing not too loudly throughout), but the 3 star drop is truly for the below-expectation food - which I am sure can be remedied, if the establishment truly wants to. Else, to those wishing to have at the very least a decent burger,...

Chicken breast was very chewy, probably taken straight from the freezer and wasn't properly defrosted, the cheese burned with awful taste, not edible. Waitress was just sitting at a table with a guy who i assume is her boyfriend, service was very slow considering the place was almost empty when i placed my order. After a very long time came to my table, seen my plate is barely touched, didn't even ask what's wrong with it, only if she can take it Background music is so silent all i hear is noise from the kitchen, waitresses chatting and other clients eating. Its nice that there is a zone for kids, if the food and service would improve I'd consider coming here with family, but if the standards are so low on a weekday early afternoon i can't imagine how bad it is...

Zamówione dwa dania, w pierwszym kawałek mięsa w sosie bodajże kurkowym był przesuszony przez co podczas jedzenia ledwie co przechodził przez gardło, sos w porządku, niezbyt intensywny aczkolwiek czuć było grzyba, porcja ziemniaków bardzo „mokra”(?) przez co z ziemniaków zrobiło się coś pokroju papki dla dzieci, przy czym od czasu do czasu trafiały się twarde kawałki.

Kompot smakował jak owocowa herbata lipton którą ktoś przygotował dzień wcześniej i o niej zapomniał, w moim kubku poza samym napojem miałem niewielki kawałek czegoś co przypominało ręcznik papierowy użyty do wytarcia szklanki.

Dziewczyna zamówiła pierogi, które dosłownie pływały w wodzie, przez co były wypłukane ze smaku a samo ciasto rozwarstwiało się. Rosół tak jak i pierogi nie szczyci się jakością. W smaku przypominał baardzo rozwodnioną kostkę rosołową, makaron to najtańsze nitki krótkie, a marchewka mimo tego że było jej dość mało była w porządku.

Często z dziewczyną wychodzimy do różnych lepszych/gorszych tańszych/droższych restauracji i wizyta tutaj niestety nie była najlepszym, czy nawet średnim doświadczeniem. Ceny podchodzące pod restauracje na rynku głównym, niestety nie idą na równi z jakością. Na pierogi czy kawałek mięsa z ziemniakami chętniej wybrałbym się do pobliskiego baru mlecznego, który jakościowo jest bardzo podobny. Jedyne co jestem w stanie pochwalić po wizycie to sos kurkowy oraz obsługa która była miła i profesjonalna. Czas oczekiwania na oba dania mimo tego że restauracja miała połowę miejsc wolnych był również bezsensownie długi.

Jeżeli cokolwiek w tym lokalu poza stabilnie wzrastającymi cenami się zmieni to chętnie przyszedłbym ponownie, ale niestety raczej nie mam...
