If you're looking for a taste of Greece in Warsaw, Meltemi is a must-visit. Known for its authentic dishes and vibrant atmosphere, this restaurant brings the essence of the Mediterranean to your table. However, a word of caution: while the culinary experience is very good, visiting on a Sunday might not be the best idea.
The true highlight of Meltemi is undoubtedly the food. From the rich and creamy taranosalata to the perfectly grilled souvlaki, every dish is a testament to authentic Greek flavors. The moussaka is layered to perfection. The calamari didn't look very fresh but I can understand: this is Warsaw after all.
On Sundays, the restaurant seems to struggle with an overwhelming number of patrons. The waitstaff, though attentive and friendly, appear stretched to their limits. While their dedication is admirable, the frantic pace can create an anxious atmosphere that detracts from the dining experience. The servers are often seen darting between tables, which, while showcasing their hard work, can leave guests feeling rushed.
The decor is charming, with whitewashed walls and blue accents reminiscent of a seaside taverna. The lively Greek music adds to the atmosphere, making it a great spot for gatherings. However, the bustling environment on Sundays can make it difficult to relax and enjoy the ambiance fully.
Melteni is a restaurant that offers delicious, authentic Greek cuisine that is well worth experiencing. However, to fully enjoy what it has to offer, consider visiting on a day other than Sunday. This way, you can savor the flavors without the hustle and bustle that comes with the weekend rush. For an unhurried meal that allows you to appreciate both the food and the setting, a weekday visit is highly...
Read moreSo we have visited the place during the hottest hours of Saturday evening and it was great. The food was excellent - both starters and main courses. Also they were OK with preparing a gluten free version for one of us. We had amazing moussaka and baked veggies with eggplant dish that comes with rice and beetroots. For starters we enjoyed their tzatziki that is an awesome way to start Greek feast. Dessert creme brûlée and filo cake with cheese topped with honey was our prefect choice especially that creme brulee comes with Metaxa on fire that is poured over cream when served at the table so you get a nice spectacle also. The service was extremely helpful and very nice. In addition we joined the plate throwing part of fun - really good way to have fun and release day's demons and waste. Definitely a place...
Read moreThe food was absolutely great ! I really did not see this well cooked fish before in Warsaw ever. The balance of the dishes was so good, and the flavors really explode. It can be the best garides saganaki I have ever had. Kalamari were also delicious, but just a little advice, maybe you could change the sauce of it from mayonnaise based to yoghurt based, it would go better with it. Greek house wine was also so tasty, it had a harmony with food with its nutty flavor. For the desserts ; Baklava had a big portion, and it was fresh and tasty also. Portokalopita for me was above the average but the orange taste does not explode as i expected, from one side it’s good because it is light, but I would expect sharper orange taste. Overall, it’s a great place to taste Greek cuisine. Totally...
