Market Kitchen Algarve — Restaurant in Albufeira

This was our worst experience during our month trip across Portugal. We made a reservation, and despite there being 3 other tables in the restaurant, we were sat in the back tucked in a corner. I asked if we could sit elsewhere and they said they were fully booked despite having made a reservation ourselves and a laughable amount of tables available. The servers kept talking and looking at us prior to offering any service, then would look away if we looked at them. It took about 15 minutes just to get a drink order. My partner is Chinese, and she was the only person of colour in the restaurant. I noticed another review showed slow service from a person of colour. Even as a white person I have to say the discrimination towards someone of colour was blatantly obvious here. Sad...

Extremely disappointed with the service here. Stayed at the W for several nights and decided to try the Market Kitchen since we just checked in and didn't want to go too far, also was recommended by the receptionist.

The food was ok, nothing to go crazy over. But my main complaint was the service. I ended up being there for almost 3 hours. Rarely did someone come by and check on us. I had to get out of my seat on 3 different times to find the waiter. I also had to ask for the check twice, by the way.

Lighting was horrible, I couldn't even see what I was eating right in front of me.

With that said. Everything else at the W hotel was amazing. If you are a guest, I would recommend the Paper...

This restaurant’s architecture was luxurious and stunning (there were many great options for taking photos). All the food was elegantly laid out and there was such a wide variety of exquisite options to choose from. The cocktails weren’t that great, but I would recommend pairing your meal with one of the local wines they have to offer.

If you’re in the algarve I highly recommend stopping here.
