O Cantinho da Ribeira Velha — Restaurant in Alcácer do Sal

We had fried squid and razor clam rice. Water. It was about 20€ per person.

The fried squid was very chewy and not particularly tasty. The rice was rich in razor clams, clams and shrimp, relatively tasty, but the shrimp are the “big and sweet” kind and the rice was too hard, swimming in a pool of broth.

Service was ok. Not particularly friendly. The owners and employee didn’t seem happy to be there.

Overall, decent meal. Will not go back unless I happen to be around and other, better places are...

Stopped off in Alcácar do Sal, on our way to Alvor. After walking around for a while, we decided to pop into this lovely little place. We had a coffee and a beer, then had a quick bite to eat. The food that I had was simply amazing. A simple dish of veal in a cream sauce, with chips, rice, and a little bit salad. It was cooked fresh. Prices were very reasonable, and the coffee and beer were unbelievably cheap. Would definitely...

Cenamos allí una amiga y yo durante nuestro viaje por Portugal y nos encantó este sitio. Es comida casera de verdad, literalmente preparada por una señora que cocina, ayuda con las mesas… ¡está en todo! Aunque quien nos atendió fue un chico muy amable y atento.

La comida fue espectacular. Pedimos almejas que estaban riquísimas, frescas y con muchísimo sabor. Súper deliciosas, ¡nos las hubiéramos comido sin parar! El plato era muy generoso y, para lo que costaba, realmente barato.

Luego pedimos un guiso de habichuelas con navajas al que le añadieron gambas y pescado, sin escatimar en nada. El guiso estaba exquisito, sabroso, casero y la cantidad impresionante: se supone que era para una persona, pero fácilmente podían comer tres.

Acabamos la cena súper contentas, no solo por lo delicioso que estaba todo, sino también por el trato, que fue excelente. Incluso aunque ya iban a cerrar, fueron muy amables y se quedaron un rato más para que pudiéramos terminar tranquilas. No nos metieron prisa en ningún momento, nos dimos cuenta...
